Misleading App Store

While the app itself isn’t the problem, it’s the App Store page is deceiving. On the App Store it says family sharing is supported but wanted me to pay, twice. That’s another issue that the front reviews on the app state free, yet I had to pay. A fee, no matter the size, isn’t free. I won’t pay twice for something that is supposedly able to be shared by family.

User Friendly

This app is absolutely amazing! I am a BCBA in the field of ABA. I use this app for several clients. It is user friendly especially on an iPhone or iPad. It is compatible with Android as well. I have worked with other apps for clients in the past but found the cost to be a barrier for some. With the free version of Alexicom, you get all the features (create own page, upload pictures, change/record the voice to personalized voice, hide pictures on page,etc). As a professional in the field, I highly recommend this app, it is the best out there!

Great FREE app

This is amazing for a free app, it has editing capabilities, tons of images available, even scanning abilities. I have several of the Alexicom paid apps too, which saved me a lot of editing time. A viable, affordable communication option!

Free App

I have been using the free app for a while, despite constantly having to remake pages every time my employer updates my iPad. I like the flexibility of being able to create my own pages. However, suddenly I am getting an error message that my pages have expired and I have to renew or republish. Also, I am having issues with a child who has hand tremors tapping the screen too many times, which causes the screen to zoom. I attempted to turn off this feature but it didn’t work.

Hello Queen Jewl, We discovered this bug two days ago and quickly began to resolve it. Today we submitted to Apple and the update is now available so you will no longer receive this error. Also, in the future so you don't lose any of your pages follow these steps to back up in iTunes using File Sharing: 1) Plug in the iPad to the computer (Mac or PC) 2) Select the iPad icon near the top. 3) In the left menu, select File Sharing. 4) In the right hand side, select the Alexicom app. 5) Drag the "Alexicom Files" folder to the desktop (or other backup location on the computer). 6) Wait for the file transfer to complete. The pages are now backed up. If anything happens during the update, you can restore the "Alexicom Files" folder to the iPad by dragging the folder back into the Alexicom File Sharing window. Apple's File Sharing webpage: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201301 For the inconvenience this may have caused, we are happy to offer a promo code to any of our other AAC apps. Problems in publishing & sharing online

I really like your app for the library you have provided & the tiles features too. Ease of use comes with tiles placing & linking pages which is an added feature more than Bitsboard. I can’t
-Use the pages of Public Library in scroll down menu option on the iPhone.
-Publish & Share my pages on my account online across iPhone & iPad. The personal board page (Quick talk) should be there in the Scroll down menu to use after I sign in.

Great app that is still free.

You can create basic AAC pages that could be customized.

Complicated

I think if you learn how to edit it , but for me was very complicated. And erased it even though I know how to edit a more complicated electronic device (V-max). Maybe just the instructions weren't clear .

Shame on you for promoting w-sitting

Using a picture of a child playing in a w-sit position is shameful. It's a position that causes pain, decreased ROM and does not allow children to gain strength and learn to move appropriately. Shame on you.

It was not our intent to advocate for sitting positions that do not promote trunk support. We have replaced that image in our update. We appologize for causing any miscommunication through putting this picture in our application.

Great app for free!

I'm a teacher and I use this app daily with my nonverbal students. It takes some time to get familiar with but once you do it is great!

Good AAC app

It's a very good AAC programme that's helping our student with multiple disability. But if the app can prevent the page moving during the finger slide on the screen, that would be more useful for the student who cannot tap on the screen sharply.

Good basic AAC

The pre-made page sets would be quite useful if you could edit them for free, which it appears you cannot. Without editing, they are not very useful at all. However, with a certain amount of time one does eventually figure out how to create new pages (don't go online like I did and try to use demo), and once you do that, there is actually quite a bit packed into this app.

Cryptic and unusable

Im completely baffled by this app.
It claims to offer text to speech, but if it does, its buried so deep in the app as to be impossible to find.

With really cryptic options like 'Unzip Pages', 'Publish New', and demo pages titled ' Child2peoplegames' and 'childprego', the whole thing is just indecipherable.
Even building a sentence then clicking the 'Speak' button appears to do nothing at all (no sound or speech).

With 101 options, but no real usability, it was clearly designed by an overly technical engineer with no real idea of how to create an interface for it. This would be forgivable if it even did what it claims to do, but it doesn't.

I know its free, but the idea is you upgrade to premium version. I won't be doing that.

looks great

I can't believe this app is free ! I've only had it for 30 minutes, but already I've taken photos of my child's toys so he can "say" what he'd like to play with. There are many well-organised pre-loaded pages that allow your child to say things like "I want to drink", or "get dressed", and so forth, with clear pictures for those who can't read well. There are also pages for adults ("I have a stomach ache", etc). I've had a look at other AAC apps on iTunes and I think this one beats them all for ease of use, customisability, and price. Why not give it a go?
