* Fixed bug when running on iOS15 whereby the formula entry field would expand to obscure buttons.

User reviews

Unique and genius app

Writing another review because the more I use this app the more genius I think it is. The interface takes a bit of getting used to but the associative parametric geometry is exactly what I was looking for and is brilliant. The price is higher than you possibly want to pay but worth supporting this guy for the very clever functionality.

FAQ

What is Algernon?

Algernon is a 2D geometry calculator and CAD tool that allows users to construct geometric elements with parametric relationships. Changes to variables or elements automatically update the geometry.

Who is Algernon designed for?

Algernon is primarily aimed at engineers and mathematicians, both practicing and studying. It is also suitable for designing or checking mechanical details and architectural layouts.

What kind of geometric elements can be constructed in Algernon?

Algernon supports the construction of points, lines, and circles. It also includes constructions for intersections, bisections, and tangents, including solving for a circle tangential to three others.

Can I use variables and formulas in Algernon?

Yes, mathematical formulas can be specified as parameters for elements like position and radius. You can also create variables, use geometrical elements within formulas, and even use time to create animations.

What export options are available for drawings made in Algernon?

Drawings can be saved, printed, and emailed. They can also be exported in PDF format for sharing or printing, and as DXF files for compatibility with other CAD software.

How does Algernon handle user interface complexity?

Algernon uses an associatively parametric approach with a simplified interface. It automatically determines construction types based on user input, keeping the UI clean while maintaining sophistication.

Does Algernon have ads?

No, Algernon does not contain advertisements. It is a paid application with a one-time purchase price.

What devices is Algernon compatible with?

Algernon is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices, indicated by its age rating of 4+.
