A terrible app for foreigners
China is 99% cashless. Yet the two main apps are absolutely terrible. Alipay’s English version is still 30% Chinese. It will constantly ask you for verification for all the different mini apps, that you can’t do, because it will ask you for a Chinese Bank Card! It’s muddled, confusing, error messages are in Chinese, not intuitive, not quality checked using native English speakers etc etc. It makes a trip to China for a holiday a horrible experience. Security is also a major issue. There is no help available except bots. It is very very easy to lose a lot of money in this app. If you are going to China, be prepared for endless rears and frustration. You will probably leave the country early.

Translation Doesn’t Work For English + System Error x 100
Like my title implies extremely annoying to have chosen your English preferred language for translation and 85% of the time you can click translate. It says translated and nothing changed on the page at all.
When I try to order food or pretty much do anything I repeatedly get the same issue, “system error”.
I wouldn’t even be that upset, it’s just an app that doesn’t work. It’s weird, but I guess it happens, what really really infuriates me is it? I gave them my passport information in my home address.
Oh, and the cherry on top is that it seems like they don’t have Avatar options for anyone who doesn’t have jet black hair 👍

Truly awful app. Cannot verify my account because it keeps asking for a Mainland Chinese Bank card. Many screens still in Chinese, even though I am using the English app. Zero help. Total rubbish. So frustrating.

For an international app, this is by far the worst payment app you can imagine😩 unfortunately this has been a trend in China where all apps are very inconsiderate to foreigners use case.
