ALRM Fills a Critical Gap in Public Safety for the DHH Community

As a father of four and someone who works in accessibility technology, I recognize genuine innovation when I see it. ALRM addresses something most people never think about, how emergency alert systems are built for people who can hear.

When gunshots happen, alarms sound, emergencies unfold and the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) community is left without the instant awareness everyone else has.

This app changes that.

The home geofence was setup in seconds, visual alerts worked reliably with a very intuitive interface.

This isn’t just a clever app. It’s addressing a legitimate safety gap that could save lives!

Bad

I really wanted this app to work as myself and my girls are hearing impaired and need this. Unfortunately my phone, my daughters, her iPad and my husbands phone it won’t get past the listening button we can’t sign up or anything because it won’t do anything. My husband even tried bringing it near something that was doing the smoke alarm sound and it didn’t even notice it.

Response from developer

Hi TrishaMarie, I'm so sorry for the frustration. Your family is exactly who I built ALRM for. It sounds like the app may not have received microphone permission on your devices, which would prevent it from listening. I'd love to help troubleshoot directly — please email me at gavin@getalrm.com and we'll get this working for you.

Can’t believe nobody has built this app

Great job
