What's New in Altimeter Watch

1.0.7

August 12, 2019

- Fixed an issue where the watchOS app would either fail to start, or run very slowly because of too many altitude history data points. - Altitude and Oxygen History graphs will only be displayed for data collected while in workout mode on the watch. Altitude data collection is too sparse to provide an accurate graph when not in workout mode. - The Altimeter Watch complication will be updated periodically when you raise your wrist to view it. The frequency of these updates is limited by watchOS restrictions.

Why No Update For Apple Watch 4

This is an excellent app with lots of valuable info. But it won’t work as a complication on the watch face on an Apple 4. This needs an update! Have to give it 2 stars because it should have been updated as a watch face complication on Apple’s latest watch.

Altimeter on watch

Continuously appears unasked for. Drains battery. Accurate enough for general purposes.

Broken Watch App and crazy battery consumption

This app drained 59 percent of my battery using GPS over just 9 hours. And the watch face always is forced to be displayed even if app is closed. The watch app is laggy and slow when there is no good reason for this. Also the paid purchases do not remove the ads, buggy misleading application. One star - I believe the other reviews are fake

Response from developer

Hey CraneDomain, sorry you had a bad experience! Thank you for the feedback. For me, this app works best if you set it up as a complication at this point. Eventually, the app will stop persistently sitting on the foreground of your watch. It seems to be a bug with watchOS for apps that use the GPS in the background. I am unable to control it, last I checked. Once it calms down on the foregrounding, the battery usage reduces too in my experience. I have a Series 3 LTE, and my battery will last about two days, when I use this app as a complication. There are no ads in this app, other than my request for your in app purchase on the oxygen history screen, so perhaps you got that confused with another app? Anyways, I hope Apple allows me to have better control in upcoming watchOS releases, so I can give everyone a better experience! I will try to find some time to improve this app for the upcoming ski season, which is the time of year that I use it the most! Hope I can earn more than 1 star from you in the future! 😁

Fake Reviews Probably

Not a good app. Inaccurate and you have to pay for everything. One of the review says the developer answers questions quickly, but there are no questions. Don’t get.

Response from developer

Hey CreeperTechHQ, thank you for the feedback. The only thing that is paid in this app are the oxygen percentage features, you do not need to pay to see your current altitude or your altitude history. If you're trying to use it without an Apple Watch, then it currently won't work, perhaps this is what you're experiencing? I would like to support using this app without an Apple Watch in the next release. Hopefully I'll make a new release before the ski season! The questions that I answered quickly were sent via email, that's why you don't see them.

Best Altimeter App our there!

Hands down this is the best Altimeter app for the Apple Watch. Has great complications for all Watch faces and has an update time on the display as well. I have tried every other one in the App Store and this is the best you can get. The developer is quick to answer any questions you may have. Oh and believe it or not it’s FREE!!

FAQ

What devices does Altimeter Watch work on?

Altimeter Watch is designed for Apple Watches with built-in GPS, specifically Series 2 and 3. It also includes a companion iPhone app for data inspection and is compatible with iPads and iPods for data viewing.

How accurate is the altitude data?

The app is most accurate when your watch has a clear view of the sky. GPS altitude data can be inaccurate indoors or in enclosed vehicles, and it's not intended for aviation or surveying.

What are the oxygen monitoring features?

Altimeter Watch estimates the oxygen available in the air as a percentage of sea-level oxygen. It provides real-time displays and history graphs for this metric, but these are estimates and not guaranteed to be accurate.

How does Workout Mode affect battery life?

Workout Mode allows for more frequent GPS data collection, which will decrease battery life. It is recommended to use this mode only when detailed altitude data is needed.

Can I save my workout data?

Yes, when Workout Mode is stopped, your workout data can optionally be saved to Apple Health. This allows for further analysis and integration with your health data.

What is the pricing for oxygen monitoring subscriptions?

Oxygen monitoring features are available via subscription with prices of $1.49 USD for 3 months, $3.49 USD for 6 months, and $5.99 USD for a year. A 14-day free trial is offered for each plan.

How do I manage my oxygen monitoring subscription?

Subscriptions can be managed by the user, and auto-renewal can be turned off by going to your Account Settings in the iTunes Store after purchase. Cancellation will disable the oxygen monitoring features.

Is Altimeter Watch suitable for professional use?

No, Altimeter Watch is not to be used as a primary source of data for aviation, navigation, or surveying. The oxygen monitoring features are estimates only and users should have proper training and backup oxygen sources.
