FAQ
How accurate is Altitude Measure?
Altitude Measure combines GPS and your device's barometer for accuracy to within a few meters. For sub-meter precision, you can calibrate it using a known elevation marker or by manually setting the local sea level pressure.
Does Altitude Measure work offline?
Yes, you can explore 115 high-altitude places, including cities and summits, without a signal. All place data is bundled within the app for offline search functionality.
What information does Altitude Measure provide besides elevation?
In addition to your elevation above sea level, it shows a live elevation trace, vertical speed, air pressure, raw GPS altitude, oxygen level, standard temperature, and the boiling point of water at your current altitude.
Can I save my altitude readings with Altitude Measure?
Yes, you can save any reading along with its coordinates, air pressure, place name, and recent climb data. This allows you to review your records, highest and lowest points, and elevation trends over time.
What are the requirements to use Altitude Measure?
Location access is required. For full precision, a barometer is needed, which is present on iPhone 6 and later. Without a barometer, the app will fall back to using GPS only, resulting in a less stable reading.
What features does Altitude Pro offer?
Altitude Pro unlocks unlimited saved measurements, precision calibration, and export capabilities. It is available as a weekly auto-renewing subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.
Is Altitude Measure suitable for all outdoor activities?
The app is built for a wide range of activities including hiking, mountaineering, climbing, flying, cycling, skiing, and road trips. It's also useful for scuba divers checking altitude before a dive.
Does Altitude Measure have ads?
No, Altitude Measure is private by design and does not contain any advertising. Your saved measurements and location history stay on your iPhone, with no accounts or analytics.
