About
Know exactly how high you are.
Altitude Measure turns your iPhone into a precision altimeter. It combines GPS with your device barometer to show your height above sea level, accurate to a few metres and steady enough to trust.
WHY TWO SENSORS
GPS knows where sea level is, but its altitude reading drifts by ten metres or more while you stand perfectly still. A barometer is precise to the centimetre for changes in height, but it has no idea where sea level is and wanders with the weather.
Altitude Measure anchors one to the other. You get the absolute reference of GPS with the steadiness of the barometer, so the number stops jumping around when you are not moving.
WHAT YOU SEE
- Your elevation above sea level, in feet or metres
- A live elevation trace as you climb or descend
- Vertical speed, air pressure and raw GPS altitude
- Oxygen level, standard temperature and the boiling point of water at your current altitude
- Altitude sickness advisories above 2,500 m
SEE WHAT YOUR NUMBER ACTUALLY MEANS
A number on its own does not tell you much. Altitude Measure places you on a scale against the clouds, the Eiffel Tower, the Burj Khalifa, Mont Blanc, Aconcagua, Everest and a cruising airliner.
You will know at a glance whether you are standing higher than the tallest building on earth, and how far you still are from the top of the world.
EXPLORE 115 PLACES, WITH NO SIGNAL
Browse the highest cities on the planet, famous summits and the lowest places on land. Find which of them sits at your exact height right now.
Every place is bundled inside the app, so search works on a ridge with no bars.
SAVE WHERE YOU HAVE BEEN
Keep any reading together with its coordinates, air pressure, place name and the last few minutes of your climb. Review your records, your highest and lowest points, and how your elevation has trended over time.
CALIBRATE FOR REAL ACCURACY
Standing at a trailhead sign, an airport or a summit marker with a published elevation? Enter it and the barometer locks on for sub-metre precision. You can also set the local sea level pressure (QNH) by hand, the same figure airports publish every hour.
BUILT FOR
Hiking and trail running. Mountaineering and climbing. Flying, gliding and paragliding. Cycling and skiing. Road trips over mountain passes. Scuba divers checking altitude before a dive. Anyone who simply wants to know how high they are right now.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your saved measurements and your location history stay on your iPhone. There are no accounts, no analytics and no advertising.
REQUIREMENTS
Location access is required. A barometer gives full precision and is present on iPhone 6 and later. Without one, the app falls back to GPS only and the reading is less stable.
ALTITUDE PRO
Pro unlocks unlimited saved measurements, precision calibration and export.
Altitude Pro is offered as a weekly auto renewing subscription or as a one time lifetime purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A weekly subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings at any time.
