So, if your learning Amharic you would already know it’s hard to find learning material. This app is very helpful, love that she says the sounds with the Fidel written (sorry I wrote that wrong) very worth the 10 dollars!

So far I like it. Except i wish it had how spell it in English also. That helps with pronouncing than only hearing it. For example. Hello = Selam (please add this and this app would be great !)

This app is very comprehensive. It includes a ton of info to get you started with learning the language. Perfect for traveling or for those with newly adopted kiddos who you need to communicate with!!

Most Imressive Amharic App So Far
This is actually, by coincidence the last Amharic app I purchased out of 3 or 4 other educational language apps. It has what equate to audio-visual flash cards which include the Amharic character and the equivalent sound wriiten in the Roman Alphabet. When you tap one of the characters, the sound is spoken clearly.
The dictionary shows the word in English, the word in Amharic, and when tapped, the word is spoken. You also have the option of having the word repeated for you in syllables, for learning purposes.
I speak numerous languages and have over 20 language dictionaries - The user interface in this is friendly and well thought out. And in reference to a preceding comment left by another purchaser - I have not encountered any bugs whatsoever. Nicely put together program for communication and learning and one of the nicest language apps I have in my library - excellent layout, everything in Amharic and English with a clear audio voice.
I have never left a comment for an app before - but this one deserved it! Buy with confidence. Just awesome - The developers did a very nice job.

Wonderful!
Bought this app prior to my second trip to Ethiopia. It was super to be able to begin to communicate a little with the people I met there. They even said my pronunciation was great!
I always wanted to know the basics
My wife is Ethiopian and she always suggested that I learn. This app is great for a beginner. We have a infant and she's going to teach him as well. She is helping me with my pronoun-cation. Way better than utalk
unfinished app was rushed to market
This app is a combination of a dictionary and "common phrases" book. In each instance the english word(s) is(are) given with the Amharic script. Then, you can touch the screen to hear the word spoken in Amharic.
The problem is that the audio doesn't work for many of the words, and I have yet to find a phrase in the common phrases portion where the audio works. This seriously undermines the usefulness of the app.
There was an email address given for feedback, so I wrote the makers telling them of my problems. They responded that there was a bug that is keeping some of the audio from playing, and some of the words have not been recorded yet. (I wish I knew why they went ahead and released an app with known problems.)
I wouldn't purchase this app until the audio is fixed. However, I don't know how a purchaser will be able to tell that the audio works. I guess you just have to pay the $10 and take your chances.
