Took up an insane & weird amount of energy and drained my battery
This app took up a crazy amount of energy from my computer. Either it has a bug or it’s sus. It took like 4000 energy impact, while my google chrome (with a ton of tabs open) was less than 200. Idk, I’d avoid.
Passed my midterm
got this a week before the midterm it was looking rough. not only was this kinda fun but it was actually helpful. The only thing I didn’t like is my prof uses “aspartate” and “glutamate” while the app uses aspartic acid and glutamic acid.

I really wish there was an option to do fill in the blank. After a while the multiple choice format becomes way too easy and a option to put in answers as fill in the blank would not only make it more difficult but aid in studying

Protonation states incorrect
I started to use to help me prepare to teach sophomore Biochem majors and quickly realized the charge state shown in the structures are incorrect and in some cases impossible. The app missed the pKa factor. If we are assuming these amino acids are at pH=7 then the carboxylate groups will be negative and the amino groups are positive. Also on critically charged amino acids like Aspartic acid the side chain is fully protonated instead of carrying a formal negative charge. Kudos to my colleague, Dan, for pointing this out

In general, this app rewarding when it comes to getting the questions correctly. I think it would’ve been nicer if the app had a feature to write the amino acids, but even without it, it deserves a 5 star rating.

I wish i found it sooner it’s so helpful! It even helped me memorize them all in one day. i love that you can choose how you want the questions asked and what answers to choose from. I like that for the answers it doesn’t give you options that are obviously not correct, it adds some that are similar to trick you a little and make you think about it more carefully. i’m obsessed!!

The Best!
This App is perfect for memorizing the amino acids! I wish I found this sooner. Cannot recommend it enough for those trying to memorize. It allows for easy spaced repetition over periods of months and is actually fun to do!
Grievance
Lovely tool, but is lacking one of the most important things which is the pKa of the side chains. This would bring this app to the next level, many of my friends who also have it agree!
Great for memorization
Helps me remember the structures, names, three letter abbreviations, and single letter abbreviations. I like that it keeps track of your score on specific residues so that I know what I need to buckle down on specifically.
