Amazing

One of the best Roguelike games, for IOS I love the alchemy system. plus, the developers update/fix bugs!

One of my favorites on ios

I love love 8 bit like rpg/rogue games. There are some really good ones and really bad. This falls under the great game category. The only complaint would be I would love an attack button instead of pressing the direction pad.

Can’t save games

Great classic roguelike but can’t save games. It appears you can only save games with an online account which, after paying $6, is kind of ridiculous right there. I should be able to save locally. But when I try to create an account i get an error that I am unable to connect to the server. Death is a big part of rogue likes and if you can’t save it’s pointless to lay. I hope they fix this (or make the online requirement unnecessary) because the game is fun otherwise

Response from developer

Hi Kidkayos! I believe there was a misunderstanding here since the online account is NOT needed to save your games :) it's only used to keep track of your scores in the leaderboards.

Bang pop

Great concept yet a bit buggy.

Solid Roguelike Action

Anyone who has followed the indie roguelike scene will be aware of Ananias, but in case you haven't heard of it, this app is a very solid, approachable, and time-tested roguelike game called Ananias.

Mechanically, it's like most other roguelike games. You create a character, charge into a procedurally generated death labyrinth, and eventually get killed. Rinse and repeat, learning as you go, to get further and further into the depths.

As roguelikes go, Ananias has a lot of diversity and depth to it, but it's wrapped in a more-approachable-than-usual presentation. And this iOS port lends itself really well to the mobile form factor. The UI is straightforward and easy to use, and navigating the game world includes affordances like fast-travel that solve problems that typically plague other mobile roguelike games. Overall, this feels like a solid, well-produced port of a classic roguelike game. Challenging for veterans of the genre, but accessible to newcomers.

My recommendation is to definitely pick it up if you are at all inclined to like games of the roguelike genre. It is well worth the price of admission, because there are many hours of gameplay here. And if you're new to the roguelike genre, this is a fantastic introduction. Five stars.
