Great education source
The videos are short and to the point. You can save them to your playlist for future reference.
This is such a wonderful app !
I’m an adoptee and a senior citizen. It is so great to be able to search for family now as well as ancestors. Just the use of the census records at our fingertips is phenomenal. I highly encourage anyone to take a dive into their own histories!
Countries
Only geared to an American audience. Not very inclusive of other countries
Better than I expected, lots left to learn, new places to look!
WOW!! What a great resource. I’ve been doing family history for over 50 years…self-taught and worth every cent. I expected to be overwhelmed, in the dark, too old to learn now. I’m pleasantly surprised to find that I’m better educated than I think…always nice to know. It’s surprising to find that all those mistakes, years of writing people, hours at the library with a patient husband caring for 5 kids,
and a bunch of Eureka moments…usually accidental, yielded some knowledge. Now, thanks to the Academy, I have SO many new places to look, and tips and tricks and…I gotta go!

Useless for Australia
Completely inappropriate for the Australian App Store. Entire focus is USA

Ancestry Academy
This is opening a lot of new doors for me.

My Go to
I have been working on my family tree on Ancestry now for a few months straight. I found Ancestry Academy and before I even used it I thought it’d be a resource that is nice to have, but probably wouldn’t be used that often. I don’t run into hang ups too often when researching on Ancestry, but when I do this app is the best! I find it much easier to navigate than anything else I’ve tried. I’ve learned so much from this app!

Need family in my life
Ancestty
Love this app but not all videos have captions so I get left behind as usual when this happens
Very helpful App
I’ve been into genealogy for decades, but I still have a lot to learn. This app is quite helpful! I appreciate the short videos; I probably wouldn’t watch something 30 minutes or longer. These give me just the jumpstart I need on brick walls and missing info.
Not impressed
Very biased towards US users, some very basic omissions for people outside the US. This could be useful if it had been designed for all users not purely for American users. Some of the annoying comments in the presentations.
On Irish research you can ignore the 1911 census data as this is after the peak of immigration, so Ireland was empty after this time.
On English research the 1939 census is ignored as possibly very few people in America would have ancestors there at this time.
The presenter also said that Coventry was in the North, shows a lack of research, yes it is north of London but it is in the Midlands. Also the occupation char lady was somebody who worked for rich people, I bet most char ladies didn’t know that.
The comments in themselves are trivial but it showed a lack of knowledge but would be suitable for Americans but not for anyone else.
Sorry this was a good idea but it could have been so much better if it had been aimed at a wider audience.
I will not be watching anymore of these

Why Only Videos?
Videos are not the only way to learn. Quality articles that can be printed or saved as a file would be valuable as well. If anyone reading this agrees, please send feedback to Ancestry.
Ancestry!!!
I have been able to learn new ways to research my family’s history and genealogy! I’ve been super surprised at how it gets broken down in the step-by-step ways! So EASY!!!
US-centric
I’m disappointed to see how heavily US-centric the app is. Minimal content for those of us who pay good money for Ancestry memberships in other countries. Try a bit of inclusivity.
First video, bad advice
The video regarding organizing leaves left me asking, “These are professional hints?” The speaker gave three hints and disqualified one because she already had the photo. But what about the person who posted the photo? What if this person is unknown to you and could have done research you could obtain? What if this person is a cousin from a branch of your tree you need help with? Don’t disregard a hint so quickly!!
