Why?
Why does this app need access to Facebook or my personal email to even launch? Don’t use this.
Fail
First thing it asks for is a login. I prefer to use my email instead of going through Google or Facebook. But there is no choice to set up a login. It assumes you already have an account and wants a password.
So I couldn’t even try the app. Huge usability fail.

Clunky
Setup is clunky but I figured it out. Received several false drag alerts. I finally just turned it off and used my other trusty anchor alarm. Not impressed
Good potential, needs reliability
Has good potential. However, my DataHub frequently (1-3 times a week) disconnects from Starlink WiFi with no alert. The anchor alarm thus stops working but there is no notification. I leave my anchor alert on when I move anchorages. 50% of the time, no drag alert is triggered. When the alert is triggered, it also takes too many minutes. I’d have dragged anchor onto a beech before the alert is triggered on my phone.

Essential
An essential piece of safety equipment for long term cruising. One of the best investments you can make.
Unreliable
I bought a data hub, have Starlink and am a techie. Yes the hub knows it’s on a Starlink connection. The app does all the smart stuff but it’s unreliable, which can be more dangerous than not having it.
I don’t get alerted if it loses hub connection.
I moved 20nm and reset the alarm. Not only did it set it for my old location it didn’t send an alert. I login to the datahub, it knows where I am. My iPhone knows where I am but not the app! I kill and reset the app and suddenly I moved.
Just can’t trust that behaviour.
It needs a supervisory set of checks before it’s safe to use.
Also - the app only offers you a review if you say you feel safe. Skews ratings - dishonest.

We love PredictWind software but this is standalone app is a piece of junk. Even with the PredictWind hub, it doesn't function right.
Many false alarms
“Modify swing alert created” goes off continuously although I disabled that alert and closed the app. I also get anchor drag alerts with strange incorrect position jumps. I set the device to use specific accurate gps sources on NMEA 2000 and not use its internal gps but no luck so far.
Annoying
Anchor alerts, swing alerts go off even when turned off and disabled. Really expected more from predictwind.
Frustrating!!!
It worked when I first used it. Many updates later, seems to get worse all the time. I’m a pro user and this is beyond frustrating. Customer service also not good. Just some AI that keeps giving me the same info like updating to the latest version of the datahub software or deleting app and reinstalling… which I’ve done numerous times and app still doesn’t work! They get all the data they want, and nothing in return. Not happy.

Disappointed
I love PW and as a premium subscriber I was ecstatic to have an app that can link to my Datahub and I can leave the boat with my
Phone to monitor. Set my anchor last night, activated and went to dinner. When I tried to check the app nothing was there and it was showing my boat ashore in my position - not sure what happened. When I got back to the boat I restarted it and wt my alarm. Through the night I checked and all good. Then this am as we were getting ready to raise anchor it was gone again and asked me to start my anchor all over again. I closed the app and started raising my anchor. Then the alarms started going off - but the app showed nothing anchored. Only way to stop it was to delete the app. Here’s hoping they get the bugs out.

Will not be switching to this app at the moment.
I am a PW pro user with a datahub onboard and was happy to look at this new app as an alternative to paying for Anchor Pro.
Setup was not too difficult, getting the app to talk to datahub was simple as looking up the ip address my router had assigned it.
What’s missing is the boat’s movement history. Add that and i’m in. Until then I’ll hold off.

DO NOT INSALL DataHub AccessI Issues
Don’t install if you have a datahub as you’ll lose access to the wifi of the datahub!

The best anchor alert App
The latest release of the Anchor Alert App by PredictWind for off the boat alerts is fantastic, it has taken the worry away from leaving the boat in bay while we go ashore. Nice work team.
Released app version 1.9.1 works as advertised, a little bit clunky
Strongly recommended, except if you don’t have PredictWind subscription and/or no DataHub. In that case, this alarm app won’t do much for you.
Excellent anchor alarm integrated with PredictWind DataHub for on and off the boat alarms and boat data (position, and all NMEA data such as depth, SOG, wind strength and direction, etc) that you can view from anywhere.
One star off for the very slow setting of the alarm, the requirement to be connected to the DataHub wifi to set the alarm, and for the inability to change alarm settings when off the boat.

End-to-end anchoring workflow
It’s amazing to be able to find anchorages, check local weather, set my anchor, and monitor it remotely all from the same app. Can’t believe this app is brand new and can’t wait for more upcoming features!
Amazing anchor alert app
I can now monitor my boat ashore with the datahub and this app. Amazing technology.. can now have confidence of spending time ashore for longer knowing my yacht is safe.
