Disappointing

They tell us that it is to icy to go to school when it’s not. Then when it rains a lot they tell us it’s nothing.

Terms and conditions are ridiculous

“You have the right to opt-out of the sale of your personal information to third parties.” NO THANK YOU!

I love Anchorage but…

School system needs some work!

Great teachers with corrupted administrators

As a parent of ASD students, I can’t wait for them to graduate out of this dysfunctional education system. After ten plus years of witnessing multiple cases of crimes committed against children that the ASD covers up to suppress data and avoid the PR fallout and subsequent lawsuits that would come to light against the school district. Instead of honest transparency ASD actively suppresses information from parents as to what is really going on within the schools. Violent assaults, robberies and other various crimes are now present within the school district and are purposely being kept from the parents. Principles at two separate schools from my own experience have lied in official statements to police while doing crime prevention investigations to protect their own careers at the expense of children. These are blatant attempts to sway or manipulate investigations by making false statements to law enforcement officers. Combine these facts with the budget shortfall on top of embarrassing low national scores, ASD is not just a joke it’s a disgrace at the administrative level. From the principles office on up to the head shed on the East side of town expect nothing but lies , deception and the run around by ASD administrators. The new boss isn’t going to change anything unless he changes and cleans up the entire corrupted culture at ASD admin. Good luck trying to get one of them to respond through email in writing. They rather talk in the office where there’s no record of content. The chances of getting a straight answer when they play damage control is slim to none.
As for the teachers, from our experience a vast majority of the teachers including immersion are amazing as I commend you for a job well done despite not having adequate management or leadership within the district. Seems to be an Alaskan staple of inadequate management lacking leadership. Parents need to unite to litigate a class action lawsuit against ASD to hold them accountable for the crimes against our children that they're covering up for the very reason to not be held accountable. Principles protecting pensions will go to great lengths to protect them including covering up crimes against children. Do not believe ASD initial assessment or statements on anything. Parents need to do their own due diligence on asking the right questions at the right time in writing !!!! The Scott Thompson ticket needs to be investigated further for covering up these crimes against children. Three more years. I’m sure by then ASD will be even farther below budget due to in part outrageous administrative salaries that aren’t performance based or warranted. ASD administrators are an extremely poor return on investment and they should be subsequently replaced by competent personnel that put the children first as in safety as well as education and not focused on protecting your pensions.
