About

That “pigeon” on the pavement is a spotted dove. The ducks with glossy green heads in the park pond are mallards. Animalog helps you put a name to every animal you meet, and keeps them in a field guide of your own. SNAP IT, KNOW IT Take a photo and find out what it is in seconds: its common name, scientific name, and how common or rare it is. YOUR OWN FIELD GUIDE Everything you collect is sorted by class and order, with a short profile, calls, range and reference photos. Rarity is drawn as five little bottles that fill up as you collect. SPECIAL MOMENTS Eating, napping, with a baby, having a soak: collect the different moments of each species, too. FOUR COMPANIONS, ONE ISLAND Baobao, Tata, Tuntun and Naying the very loud cockatoo each live in their own corner of the island. Animals you have met drop by their door, and your travel companion writes you letters about the places you have been together. A LITTLE GALLERY OF YOUR OWN A book of seals and a Book of Cities on the shelf, a calendar and a specimen frame on the wall, a globe with glowing orbs on the desk. Plus hidden achievements for the solar terms, festivals, seasons in both hemispheres and the first time you reach somewhere new. TURN SIGHTINGS INTO CARDS Big photo, postcard, stamp, doodle, letter: make a card worth sharing. WITH FRIENDS Add friends, start a group and see what everyone has met lately. Your photos are private by default. Location is only used to note where you met each animal.

- Companion Island: your companions live in different corners of an island, each with its own drift bottle; animals you've photographed drop by their door and share a little secret - Meet Naying, a loud and very dramatic sulphur-crested cockatoo who lives in the tallest tree on the island - A drift bottle next to your floating companion takes you straight to the island - More kinds of letters: a wander, a trip away, "a few months ago today", congratulations, and chats about animals you've met. Browse letters by kind and share any letter as a letter card - Rarity tiers are now five hand-drawn bottles in Morandi colours; the more you collect, the higher the water rises - Achievements redesigned: public achievements show how far you are and how to unlock them, with new four-week weekday and weekend streaks; hidden achievements for the 24 solar terms, seasons in each hemisphere, and places you've been - The achievement gallery is now a little room: a book of seals and a Book of Cities on the shelf, a calendar and a specimen frame on the wall, a globe with glowing orbs on the desk. Tap anything to see what you have lit up - New festival achievements: Lunar New Year, Lantern Festival, Dragon Boat, Qixi, Mid-Autumn, Double Ninth, Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween and Christmas - Share your profile as a card: avatar, name, species collected, days out and your rarity tiers - Place names now consistently use Simplified Chinese
