Gute App mit einer großen Anzahl an Tieren und einer sinnvollen Sortierung. Es wäre schön wenn man die Möglichkeit hätte Tiere die nicht gelistet sind irgendwie mit Foto als Vorschlag an die Autoren hochzuladen. Außerdem wäre es toll wenn man die Artenliste exportieren könnte (CSV oder Ähnliches).

I bought the previous version, and had trouble downloading the images. I contacted Stefan and he assured me that they were working on a fix. He emailed me today to say that version 1.7.0 was out and it now works perfectly!
The app look great, and it will save a fortune and several kg compared to all the field guides I usually carry.

Downloads not working
Since it hasn’t been updated for three years I’m guessing they’re not going to fix it. In other words don’t pay for the packages since you won’t get them.

Helped me learn many new types of animals on my trip
Worthless
I downloaded the entire app and paid for all the sub categories (everything.) While you get a very wide range of what I presume to be all the fauna in Costa Rica, what you really get are just pictures. You get one picture of the animal, bird, reptile, or insect, it's Latin name and it's technical classification in the taxonomy of Animalia, and that's it. No description of the animal, no description of where you might find the animal, no description of its habitat, no description of its behavior, or no differential description between two similar animals. What do you get is a link to the Wikipedia page of each animal, bird, insect, etc. This works out great in all the Costa Rica jungles that have Internet access (not many.) This app reeks of laziness. It's essentially worthless.I intend to delete the app before I go to Costa Rica.

A fantastic resource for wildlife enthusiasts and professional workers alike. You’re paying for much more than just a field guide—the photography alone is artwork and the user interface is streamlined and sleek. You’re paying for an updatable photography book by a number of talented/skilled photographers. I think complaints about price miss this—the work done to achieve something like this is immense and there is no comparable resource like it for Costa Rica. Physical field guides suffer from the fact that taxonomy is ever-changing and fluid. A guide such as this can be updated to add taxa and bring things up-to-date. This is the future of field guides.

Amaizing pics and details, easy to used to
Súper buena app, buen contenido y muy diverso, as a local Naturalist tour guide of Costa Rica is super helpful, easy to used, maybe in the future can put more info, but for start is good!

Super - Tiernamen In unterschiedlichen Sprachen
Ich habe mir eine Lizenz aller wichtigen Tiere heruntergeladen. Diese Version ist schon sehr umfangreich und liefert die Tiernamen in Latein, Englisch, Deutsch und Spanisch! Links führen bei Interesse zu weiterführenden Informationen. Nach der anfänglichen Startherausforderung zu dieser Information zu gelangen (weiße Fläche) war es ziemlich simpel. Der Klick auf das Bild bringt einen zur weiteren Info.

No good
Free version is useless. Looks like it depends on WiFi for information so I’m not paying for full version. WiFi is very rare and slow in Costa Rica.

Thank you for your feedback. We have just published a major release with many updates and improvements (see our website for details). The WIFI connection is required only at the beginning until the database and all required images have been downloaded. From there on you can fully use the app offline. Would be great if you want to give it another try and let us know your feedback.
Not good if you don’t pay
The information is not good unless you pay. And the free version is not compelling enough to make me want to pay (and possibly be disappointed).
A good starting point
Plenty of animals in this guide which is relatively easy to use with good features like favouriting, distribution maps and naming. The hierarchies of information make sense but it takes quite a few clicks to get where you want. Never-the-less, it should be an indispensable guide for Costa Rica.
I do think it’s unfair to criticise the need to pay for information, it very clearly says next to the app that it has In App purchases, which surely reflects the work put in. Complete unlock is £14.99 which includes future releases, in line with buying a book.
I hope they keep adding to this app - both in terms of adding even more animals and in terms app functionality itself - as I’m really looking forward to putting it to good use.

Startscreen.. that’s it
Beautiful startscreen and then the app closes again. :( and again and again
DOA - nothing beyond the main title screen
Downloaded app on an iPhone 7 with 12.1.4 iOS. Opened the app and it just displayed the main screen. Tapping screen does nothing.
Very little information
It has pictures but very little information. Any field guide that depends on Wi-Fi especially in Costa Rica is worthless! If you want information you have to connect to Wikipedia.
You need to pay to use
Everything involves paying for extra packs - not made clear in description.
