Used to be great, now not so much

This used to be such a great online dictionary for Welsh learners but the most recent update and revamp seems to have changed the source vocabulary and how Welsh words are presented as a choice. I’m also sure there used to be plurals but they don’t seem to be there so much now. I used to use it all the time but now I can’t face it. A really poor outcome for a university learning tool

Bendigedig!!!

Very clever app made by a super swagger jagger guy!

Something changed.

Very poor these days. Put in a known Welsh word for trans to English. It jumps to a completely different word. Nothing to do with the original input. Doesn’t happen all the time but frustrating it is.

Aeth rywbeth o'i le

Something has indeed hone wrong with this app. Is it working at all?

NO LONGER WORKS

This app was excellent, now, I can’t get a single word! It’s like the dictionaries are empty! I’ve deleted and re-installed, made sure all dictionaries were selected and nothing. Such a shame

What happened

This app was excellent, now, I can barely get a single word! It’s like the dictionaries are empty!

Bottle of water

Just like water its plain

Newest verion is poor

The underlying dictionary is good. The interface is poor with very small text even after cranking the ipad text size up to the max.

Mae’n gweithio eto - gwych!

Roedd problemau yn diweddar ond mae’n gweithio nawr - ap cyfleus iawn! 👍

Diweddariad newydd - latest update

Mae’r fersiwn newydd wedi gwella esmwythder defnyddiad. Ymdrech ardderoch gan y datblygwyr
New version has improved ease of use. An excellent effort by the developers.

Sadly does not work but it does now !!!

After the latest update the app fails to open on my iphone. I have deleted and reinstalled to no avail.
APP HAS BEEN FIXED!!!! Within a couple of days. I wish other developers were as quick to act.

Ddim yn gweithio

Mae’r Ap yma’n hanfodol wrth ddysgu’r Uwchradd. Yn anffodus nid yw’r Ap yn ymddangos I weithio ar ôl y diweddariad olaf. Mae’n ceisio “agor cronfa Geiriaduron” cyn rhoi neges “aeth rhywbeth o’i le”. Siomedig iawn.

Update? Beth sy’n digwydd?

This has been an invaluable app for me in two yrs of learning Cymraeg.
I haven’t been able to access for over a week but now have been able to reload (ios) and I find a completely different and stripped back version.
If this is a permanent change, you need to update your information and screenshots - misrepresents the current version.

Last update (Oct 2023) Fixed - Diolch

Works perfectly now - Diolch developers for fixing update

iOS update :(

Have found this an excellent app until the update for iOS a few days ago - now it doesn’t work at all - I see a brief flash of translucent red if I tap it, then nothing. Has this update made unusable for all but the latest iPhones, or ??? (All other apps on my phone are still working well…) V much hoping this is just a temporary blip - croesi bysedd! 🤞

No longer works on iphone

Dw’i wedi defnyddio’r app hwn am flynyddoedd, ond mae wedi methu agor o gwbl yn ddiweddar. Gwell defnyddio Geiriadur Prifysgol Cymru.

Latest update (late Oct 23) - now won’t open

Auto update - and now it won’t open at all. Tried deleting and re-uploading - same problem. Please fix!

Amazing design refresh

I like using it to help me translate, but the app was outdated in terms of design for so long, even using an old style keyboard. Dal ati!

Immediately crashes

I was happily using the app until the latest update. Now the app flashes the Bangor U page and disappears.

Looks pretty robust, but easy enough for this beginner

Using to parse Welsh phrases into component parts (which makes more sense to me than the see-and-say method used by Welsh language courses). How else would I know that the Welsh phrase for “please” (shortened from the English “if you please”) means pretty much “if you see fit”? Lots of examples drawn from current usage, which I would imagine makes this a more useful dictionary for daily life than standard dictionaries. I also have more confidence in it than I might have in others, given that it’s a product of Bangor University.
