App adds great deal to convention experience

Real time info on meetings optimizes use of time and organizing options makes stuff that is invariably missed of sufficient valence to induce followup. Getting slides and citation a plus, and live overflow virtual option relieves the need to race to cram into packed halls where miasma might lurk.

Overall, app combined with realtime and on demand virtual options reduces time pressure and allows for more personal connection with colleagues. And this greatly increases workability of attending this convention for the aged and disabled as professional activity life span for psychiatrists is extended dramatically by technology, workforce demands, and popular interest in behavioral health.

So the convention becomes an exercise in appreciating the promise of hybrid interactions in practice and in life, beyond the routines that originated in the crisis of the Global Epidemic.

Learning about this is especially important for older potential attendees who may have unconscious residual technophobia despite seeming adaptation to the tech revolution. These are exactly the population most likely by income, workplace seniority and autonomy, flexible family responsibilities, and geographically widespread networks of colleagues, to be motivated to convene. But advancing age and physical limitations coming in the elderly may discourage convening in the 8th and 9th decades of life if the advantages of hybrid attendance are not clearly advertised. Internet natives will not have to be encouraged to use this app and its likely iterations, but many of them will for a while be less likely to convene in person due to the duties of early middle age.

I will advocate at this convention that sub-organizations like Senior Psychiatrists, geropsychiatry, and even semi-alienated movements like psychoanalysis, whose physician veterans are getting up there in age, be recruited to educate old-timers about how well established tech like this app can extend and enrich professional connection at hybrid meetings as the concept of “retirement” from the calling of medicine, or at least psychiatry, is retired.

Well made app

Easy to use.

Needs search function for individual sessions please.

Otherwise 5 stars.

Excellent venue and event!

Nice work APA.

Not optimized for tablet

What in the world?!?
Why is this app not optimized for tablets (iPad), which many conference attendees utilize. The tablet “version” of this app is just a phone-sized image, like other cheap apps. People paid hundreds of $$ to attend (and hundreds more for lodging). At least make a decent, 21st century, conference app.
