Limited Accuracy
This app only provides forecasts for towns and villages nearest the trail shelters which are almost always much lower elevation that the shelters are.
The first example that comes to mind is the Icewater Shelter in the Smokies which sits at 5919 Ft elevation but the forecast for that shelter is taken from Gatlinburg, Tennessee which resides at 1293ft. The higher the elevation the colder the temperature and weather can be much different.
