Bad Paid App Ever

1.I bought this app for one reason only
the advertisement claimed it had 100,000 artworks.

Since I love animal-themed art,
I searched for every “Subject: Animal”
across all eras available in the app.
Here’s what I found:

Early: 19 images
Renaissance: 160 images
Baroque: 383 images
Romanticism: 240 images
Impressionism: 79 images
Modern: 213 images
Contemporary: 19 images
American: 361 images
Total: 1,474 images

Yes, only 1,474 artworks
related to animals in the entire app.
Classic art from every era combined
— just 1,474 animal artworks?
Do you still believe this app really has 100,000 images?

2.I’ve never seen a paid iOS app
with a UI design this terrible. Ever.

3.Every single time you enter or exit a menu,
there’s a slow dissolve effect.

It makes me dizzy, uncomfortable,
and even nauseous.
In terms of smoothness,
I’d give this app 0 out of 100.

4.Luckily, you can turn off those stupid effects
when browsing slides,
but it still doesn’t make the experience any better.

5.Image quality:
No HD version

6.This app deletes all images
every time you close it.
That means you have to reload
all the images from the start each time.
So it’s only suitable for those with unlimited internet.
(I’m really starting to wonder
how they managed to make an app this bad.)

Summary:
The app’s description sounds amazing
— so much that I wondered, why is it only 399 baht?

But in the end...
this is the worst app I’ve ever bought.
I truly regret spending money on it.
I paid the price for my own stupidity.

Beautiful art app!

2025 review: Just rediscovered this awesome art app, which is still working well after all these years. It is an excellent way to view artwork from artists throughout history. Very pleased.

Support for iOS 18

The app currently won’t go into full screen mode on iOS 18. Noticed it’s been a while since an update.

Awesome …

On the Apple Vision Pro *****

Low res!

.

Excellent Art Reference

Needs AR capability. IAP would be fine for AR function.

Beautiful art app!

Rediscovered/redownloaded Art Authority for iPad today. Nice way to view artworks from artists throughout history. Plus, you can even save your favorites! Highly recommended!

Low res

Real disappointed

Absolutely brilliant!

I ignored the negative reviews and bought this and I’m so glad I did. Works perfectly on my iPad and I love it!

Great, unless you’re trying to do serious research

I think several people overestimated the nature of this app. Would it be cool to have an app that hosts entire collection of existing art? Of course! Would that collection be enormous? Yup. In fact it would probably have to be either subscription based app, or cost like $50 or so. I’m not a fan of subscription structure but something like that would have to be a service. In other words someone would have to constantly update that database and you would be able to get access to their server. Think of all the copyright issues. If you take a photo of a public artwork from 1000 years ago, that photo is still your property and can’t be used by third parties for profit. That means whoever will manage this database has to either obtain permission for using those photos or go out and actually photograph all those artworks themselves. Is that remotely realistic to charge single $5 fee for that sort of thing?

This app is for entertainment purpose. It’s cheap, some photos are not the best possible quality, but it’s a lot of fun to use! Just use it on the bus or passing time browsing through some classic works of art. Some artist strikes your interest, just google it and find more exhaustive info and more art. It’s not the app to use for deep research, but personally I use it to get inspiration for my own art. It’s like a huge brain-storm resource. Gives a good reference into what’s out there. It won’t replace Google or a visit to an actual museum. But it’s a lot of fun, for what it’s worth.

Awesome app!

I’m not sure why there are negative reviews...this app worked flawlessly for me. Maybe it depends on what you use the app for - I’m just educating myself with it. I love browsing and better understanding what styles and artists I prefer. Access to more information is super easy, navigation is simple and intuitive for me.

Terrible

The app does not work, the works don’t download. Tried deleting, reinstalling, and nothing. Waste of time!

Brilliant App

An outstanding reference. Very well organized and easy to use. A great way to discover artists throughout history and from many genres.

Where are the Russian artists?

Over 10 Russian artists can be found in the collection but they are not located in any category or timeline that I can find. Suggestion... add a Russian artist category that contains them...

Other than that, 2 thumbs ups for the app! Having a hand- held set of art museums to study art is super! Excellent work!

OK, not great

This app isn’t worth the $10 they want for it. It’s OK, but not great. It’s not organized very well and the image quality should be better. And, for all the pieces in here, most are from white men which makes it feel a little monolithic. For this amount of money, it should be better.

Laughably inadequate

Absurd app. The "contemporary" art isn't. No conceptual art, new media etc.
