Crashes constantly on M2 Max MBP

Avoid this app. Does not work at all, crashes randomly when using. Very frustrating.

Response from developer

Hey, thanks for the feedback - it would have been much better if you joined our Beta and submitted a few crashes so we can track them down. This way, it's a needle in a haystack and all the other users who may be impacted are left without your input and our help. We cannot reproduce these crashes locally, and as a result we need users whose setup has the particular magic combination of factors to help report and submit stack traces of the crashes. The only way is through App Store Beta. If you're willing, please send us an email at support@morpheusly.com and we'll give you the app for free so you can submit a few crashes for analysis. Thank you!

Sehr guter Spice Client

Bin gerade dabei von Hyper-V auf Proxymox umzusteigen und war auf der Suche nach einem SPICE Client für macOS. (Apple Silicon). Die App hier tut genau was sie soll und funktioniert.
Desktop Resize, Clipboard, Mousetracking,… funktioniert soweit tadellos.

Es wäre super, wenn noch USB funktionieren würde und die Nutzung der Tastaturlayouts - ohne Konfiguration - einfach durchgereicht werden würde. Aber damit kann zumindest ich leben.

We are currently trying to get the right entitlements from Apple for our account, hopefully they grant them and we can provide USB passthrough in the future. For Keyboard layouts, it is a good idea to detect the layout of the local machine, but because the layout in settings really refers to the remote machine layout, it may still not function correctly. It's a tough issue to solve, but thanks for your feedback, we will think on it.

Response from developer

Hi Nicolas! Since your review is from France, I assume you're writing in to let us know of an issue with typing W and Z in French layout, and since the review is for the MacOS app, I assume your issue is on MacOS. You need to set the keyboard layout to French (France) in three places: - Your Mac - The app settings - The remote Virtual machine If you experience issues with the above setup, please do email us your concerns at support@morpheusly.com. Thanks!

Unfortunately, it's not working well.

Unfortunately, the app is not stable. Proxmox server stored. When I click on the configured server, the app crashes.

Response from developer

Hi Wodenas, We're sorry the app is misbehaving for you. If you join the app Beta, you'll be able to submit the crash reports to us directly and we will fix them for you. We'll even give you the app for free if you do. Please do not hesitate to email us at support@morpheusly.com for help.

Keyboard Language

Response from developer

EDIT2, please see my update: For keyboard layout to work (I confirmed it works for German Layout), you need the following conditions to be met: 1) Set your MacOS keyboard to German QWERTZ 2) Edit your connection and select German layout for this connection (or edit default settings if using a .vv file and select German) 3) In your remote Windows virtual machine, assuming it's Windows, select DEU for German layout. If those 3 conditions are not met, nothing will work with the current version. As an aside, we keep conversing in the review, and we get no updates that you changed anything. As a result, it's total blind luck that we see your updated review. This is an issue with the Apple Review system. If you want improvements to the app, it's not easy for us to discuss them in a review format. Please send us email at support@morpheusly.com so we can discuss directly and tell you when we have fixes that we would like for you to test. Previous discussions retained for history... 1) The pointer shape now matches the remote pointer for a year or so. 2) To connect to more than one computer on MacOS, if you have two .vv files: open -n -a aSPICE.app ~/Downloads/FILE1.vv open -n -a aSPICE.app ~/Downloads/FILE2.vv

Ui has to be improved

The app works but the interface is very bad. For example the Text in the settings is on top of itself there are random white and black bars. Very weak for the price.

Response from developer

EDIT: The current version in production, 58, has all the issues you called out fixed. Could you please let us know if you're happy now? Thanks!

Functional

The overall experience leaves something to be desired, virt-viewer under Linux feels better. I purchased this because remote-viewer via brew feels clunky. I have webauthn set up for my lab and it isn’t supported.

Response from developer

Hello, thanks for reaching out! We'd love to hear your feedback on how the UI can be improved. Indeed, you have called out precisely why we decided to put together this open source project - virt-viewer through brew has way too many dependencies not native to the Apple UI. We tried looking up webauthn, and it's not something that is supported by virt-viewer either. As this sounds like a brand new feature request, we would need to have more details about how things are set up and to see if other people are requesting the same feature. This can only be accomplished if the feature were opened on our issue tracker. You can use the Help->Report Bug link in the app to create the feature request. Thanks!

Needs Middle Button Mouseclicks

4 stars will become 5 stars when middle mouse events passthrough to proxmox via spice; also implement clipboard support; finally the aSpice menu option on mac toolbar should show a Quit option under aSpice as it is now blank

Response from developer

Hi, thanks for reaching out! Could you please email us (click the Help menu in the app) to send us a screenshot of the Mac Toolbar that is blank? Clipboard integration *should* work, just retested it with a direct SPICE connection where I know the server supports it. Make sure your Proxmox VM is set up to allow clipboard integration. The mouse, honestly, I didn't even think about middle mouse button because I didn't even think the Mac is capable of detecting middle mouse buttons - the programming interface certainly didn't suggest this as even a remote option. I'll look again and see if it's possible. Please do reach out about the menu option that's blank.

Great Application!

Can only recommend best option for spice usage on macos in my opinion.
Thanks for the great Work totally worth the price and keep going!

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback!!

Quick setup, stable

UI seems to be Touch based, had some issues with Gnome when moving the cursor, Gnome would interpret as a 3 finger swipe up or something. Mainly got it for Copy/Paste for some generated passwords and on the second day of use, Copy/Paste stopped working. I’ll just use a VM or a homebrew option.

Response from developer

Hey, sorry to hear you're not happy with the app. We would love to actually diagnose and fix those issues for you, and because this project is actually FOSS and the version on the App Store is there for donation purposes, I don't expect people for whom the project doesn't work right to pay for it. If you haven't refunded the app yet, please do so (or get in touch by email from the Help link for instructions). We'll send you a free app code so you can install the app and keep giving us direct feedback for improvements. Thanks!!

Does what my Server’s Spice Web interface cannot!

I’m using this to connect with my TrueNAS VMs which now uses Spice.

The issue was that the Spice Web Interface didn’t seem to be handing over my credentials properly, so QEMU was refusing the connection seemingly at random.

Someone tipped me off about aSpice Pro so I gave it a shot and it’s much more reliable than connecting through my web browser. This completely solves my issues, so thank you for creating this app.

Thanks for making me aware of this new use-case, this is amazing!

Not that great

If you’re like me, you were hoping to use this space client in conjunction with Proxmox. Sadly while it does connect the mouse functionality does not work well and there are not any settings to mess around with to correct which is makes it pretty much un-usable. Was really hoping this would be a valid solution.

Response from developer

There is a Proxmox bug that I experienced myself with the mouse. Go into Options for your VM and disable and then re-enable the "Use Tablet for pointer" option. Hello, I wish you had gotten in touch before posting this review. Also, i have a feeling that you've refunded and uninstalled the app and I'm just talking to a wall, but such is life...

Works!

This worked well for me. I was looking for a way to view a Proxmox Virtual Machine window *including sound* on my Mac. The time saved in setting up a more complex solution justified the cost for me.

It would be great to add support for window resizing, like moving from the console to an X11 window.

Works, Easy to use

Came over to Mac from PC. Always used Spice agent for Windows to access Proxmox servers. This was an easy install and just use application. Overall performance is a bit less than Windows, but works well.

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback, and I'm glad you're happy with aSPICE Pro. I hope other happy users share their positive experiences.

Awesome

Great app with regular updates. Well worth the price!

Response from developer

Thank you kindly. I wish more of our happy users would post their positive experiences with the app!

What the ...

How can you release a remote console app that does not even let you send Alt-Ctl-Del for windows guests, not fit for purpose.

Response from developer

For everybody else who reads this review that will never be revised... You can send Ctrl-Alt-Delete with the on-screen keys if you are an iPhone / iPad or other i-device. On Macs, there is a dedicated button for it in the menu as well. Great feedback, though, amazing to the original poster who will never reply.

Seems good so far.

I tried a few options through homebrew but they didn’t seem to work. This seems to have done the trick for accessing my PVE VMs via spice.

Response from developer

Hey, thanks for reaching out! How do we make our experience 5-stars?

Response from developer

Hey, thanks for reaching out! Don't hesitate to send us feature requests via the Report Bug functionality within the app. Also, pointer integration is coming in version 44.

Good

Good app except remote sound does not play on device and input does not always map correctly.

Response from developer

Please reach out by email (see the Help menu in the app) with details on what doesn't work. Thanks!

Does what it says - works great.

So I've been using this to connect to Proxmox containers and VMs and it worked instantly out-of-the-box without me configuring anything, it's way better than the browser-based remote console. Config is there if you need it, although the UI is spartan.
