About
ASSESS EBT is a personal competency journal and aeronautical decision-making reference tool for commercial airline pilots intending to strengthen pilot's resilience.
Built around the ICAO Evidence-Based Training framework (Doc 9995) and the IATA EBT Implementation Guide, ASSESS EBT helps you record operational events, self-assess your performance against verbatim observable behaviours, and track your competency development across real flights and simulator sessions; privately, on your device, with no data sent anywhere.
EBT JOURNAL
Record events from any flight or simulator session in a structured eight-step flow. Classify each event using the Equivalency of Malfunctions framework: Immediacy, Complexity, Degradation of Aircraft Control, Loss of Instrumentation, Management of Consequences, Environmental Threats, and Human Performance. Select the EBT competencies involved, rate each observable behaviour on a five-point scale (Consistent to Never), complete a TEM self-assessment identifying threats and errors, and write your own debrief notes.
Development areas, behaviours rated Sometimes or below, are flagged automatically and consolidated across all your sessions.
ANALYTICS
Track your competency development over time. See your average score per competency, identify the observable behaviours that appear most frequently as development areas, review your TEM outcome distribution, and follow trend lines across your last ten sessions.
ADM TOOLS
Access FORDEC and DODAR, two structured aeronautical decision-making frameworks widely used across commercial aviation. Both are operationally equivalent. Neither requires a subscription.
The integrated airport scoring system supports the Options step with structured evaluation across approach capability, runway length, weather, proximity, medical support, maintenance, and commercial factors, providing an objective basis for the most consequential decision in any abnormal situation.
LEARN MORE
A comprehensive reference section covering the EBT paradigm, Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA), the nine ICAO pilot competencies and their observable behaviours, how ADM frameworks connect to EBT competency development, the malfunction characteristics framework, and academic research behind structured decision-making tools.
PRIVACY
Everything stays on your device. No analytics. No tracking. No cloud sync. Individual event records can be exported as PDF reports and shared via AirDrop, email, or any app using the iOS share sheet.

ASSESS EBT is an independent tool created by a commercial airline pilot. It is not an official publication and does not replace your operator's Standard Operating Procedures, Operations Manuals, or regulatory requirements.
