I started with this app, then later used TBAS Study Pro, and eventually came back to this app. After using TBAS for a while, my scores on this app soared. There are so many great things about both apps that I honestly can’t say which one I like more. They’re both great for preparing for the PBM section of the ASTB.
The only thing I struggled with was the math and reading portions of the test. I don’t know why, but on my attempts, it felt like nothing I studied for math was actually on the test. But if there’s one thing that can absolutely take me out, it’s math lol.
I’ve also read a lot of reviews saying that the reading section is probably the hardest section to study for. On this app, I was scoring in the 90s on the reading portion, but on the real test, I did not do as well. The questions threw me for a loop.
I actually think the aviation questions on the real test are easier than the practice questions on this app, but I felt overprepared going into that section.

Thank you for writing this out. A detailed review from someone who has actually sat the test is worth a lot. You are right about reading; the real RCT is dry Navy regulatory prose with two answers that differ by a single word like "may" versus "must." A lot of our older passages read like magazine articles, which is more interesting but trains the wrong skill. I have been rebuilding that whole section around real Navy document language; the first batch is already in the app, and the old-style passages are being retired as replacements land. On math, I'm always trying to improve it. And good to hear aviation felt easier on the real thing. Overprepared is the direction I want my clients to go down. As for TBAS Study Pro, no argument from me. Different tools, same goal, and a little friendly competition keeps us both sharp. Use whatever gets you the score. Good luck out there, Alex Hastings

I would definitely recommend the training session with Lou, he gave me great tips and advice and even remembered the day my exam was and took the time to follow up

Overall, this app is incredible, with the all the flight portions being identical to the real test. If you want to pass, buy this app.
The best option if you need direction to start your naval career.
