About

AstroSequence is your deep-sky imaging coach. Every clear night raises two questions: what should I shoot, and exactly how should I shoot it? AstroSequence answers both — scored against your location, tonight's moon, and your specific gear — then hands you a concrete, time-budgeted shooting plan. No account. No subscription. No ads. The astronomy engine runs entirely on your device; only optional weather and city lookup use the internet. TONIGHT — what to shoot Open the app and see tonight's darkness window, moon phase and illumination, and your top-ranked targets scored 0–100. Each recommendation comes with plain-language reasons and warnings — visibility hours, transit altitude, how close the moon sits to the target, and seasonal timing. Bright moon out? Narrowband-suitable targets are automatically rescued if your rig has the right filter. SHOOTING PLAN — exactly how to shoot it Pick a target and get a complete plan built for your camera and filters: a gain hint, filter allocation, a sub-exposure sequence table, shooting priorities, and a session checklist. Only have 90 minutes? Tell it — the plan is budgeted to the time you actually have. TARGETS — a curated catalog Browse 60 hand-picked deep-sky targets: emission, reflection and planetary nebulae, supernova remnants, galaxies, globular and open clusters, and dark nebulae. Each entry lists coordinates, magnitude, size, difficulty, best months, recommended hours, and recommended filters. PROJECTS — track multi-night targets Set an hours goal per target, log sessions by filter and minutes, and watch your progress fill. AstroSequence tells you what to shoot next by surfacing whichever filter is furthest behind its share of the goal. EQUIPMENT — profiles for every rig Create multiple equipment profiles — telescope, camera (OSC or mono, cooled or not), mount, guiding, and filter set — with autocomplete backed by a large built-in gear catalog. Switch rigs and every recommendation re-tunes instantly. LEARNING MODE Every plan can explain itself. Expand the "why" notes to understand the reasoning behind filter choices, exposure lengths, and target picks — so you learn the craft, not just follow instructions. WHY ASTROSEQUENCE • On-device astronomy engine — recommendations and plans are computed locally • Explainable, deterministic recommendations — every pick shows its reasons • Moon-aware narrowband rescue for bright-moon nights • Time-budgeted exposure sequences fitted to your available minutes • Per-rig equipment profiles • Multi-night project tracking with shoot-next filter guidance • No account, no subscription, no ads, no tracking Optional online features: AstroSequence can pull a free hourly cloud-cover and visibility forecast for tonight, and look up your observing site by city name. These use free, keyless services — your equipment, projects, session logs, and plans always stay on your device. Built for deep-sky imagers who want to spend clear nights capturing photons, not second-guessing the plan.
