Great app
This app is a great way to navigate the conference and events. Love the featurea
Terrible design
Every time you open the app it refreshes to the main screen loosing your spot. Then you have to sit through 2 loading splash images and a third unskippable ad. Checking out the session list and need to find the expo map? Hit the back button, doesn’t go back. Hit it again and now it backs all the way out to the main screen. Click a session for more information and the app freezes for 10 seconds before loading, twice it never loaded and just force closed itself. Want to check out the downloaded slides? Good luck, whole app freezes. Want to check out your saved notes and sessions? It just opens up in a web browser. Got 50 notifications throughout the day about “lunch time!” Or “check out this vendor” but want to clear them out? Can’t do it in bulk, or even swipe to dismiss - you have to go one by one and open them up to clear them as read. Random pop ups tell you to refresh the app for more up to date session info, but the instructions don’t actually refresh the data (pull down to refresh function doesn’t work). Does the app have all the info you need? Sure, but it’s a horrible design.

Easy to download, easy to use.
Previous years were spotty. This has made my experience so much better
Lots of info
Lots of info included about the conference. The only change that I would make would be to integrate the virtual program within the app or have a method to flag the virtual program within the app so it’s easily identifiable instead of going to an external website.

Observations and Opportunities
The speakers are awesome.
The exhibit hall is overwhelming and feels like one big giant sales pitch.
Having speakers in the Exhibit Hall does not work. There is not enough seating space and it is very difficult to hear; the acoustics of the hall are not conducive to speakers.
The app is underwhelming. Once so selected my sessions, I went to download the slides, thinking I would receive the slides for the sessions I selected only; not 6,000 slides for the entire conference.
The notes function is great. But if you click out to view slides to do a poll in the middle of a session you lose your notes. The functionality needs a save feature. It only allows you to e-mail and I don’t want to send an email until I have captured all the notes at the end of the session.
Again, the speakers are amazing. Some of your logistics need work.

Intermittent
It could be useful but it is intermittent and goes down at the worse time. Also, having to
Login when it times out with the given password is a hassle!

3 star app closes every time navigate away
Overall the app is effective. Very inconvenient that any time you navigate away from the app on your device. The app restarts. Is this a device setting perhaps or inherent to the app programming?
Crashes and loses notes
If you lock your phone during a presentation while taking notes, the application crashes and you lose your notes. This happened with a coworker as well. Notes don’t save.
Logging me off
It keeps shutting down and I have to go through the login process over and over again. Sometimes it takes 20 minutes to load back up.
Keep Getting Kicked Out
It won’t let me open the app! It opens briefly and then i’m kicked out!! Need this for ATD 23
Ads too big
I realize the importance of ads, but they take up too much screen on a tablet!! When the ad is 1/3 of visible area, it is too hard to see content!
New App Looks Great!
So glad to see a new app for ATD. Love the features and functionality!!
Abysmal
The “ATD Conferences and Events” app is so maddening! When I try to view the sessions for a given day, it won’t move past a certain date usually from several days ago. I tap on the current date at the top of the Agenda screen and it simply will not advance to today’s sessions. My colleague has the same problem.
Since this is a primary function of the app - to find and sign up for sessions - it’s a complete failure, in my opinion. That’s why I give it the worst possible rating.
