Athens banner herald app!

This is the worst app in the history of apps! You can’t go from small letters to large! Most apps let you decide how big or small you want the letters to be! When it goes to large you are reading a small section of the paper ! If you go small, you can only read the title of the story! I have read this paper for over 50 years, I am 82 years old! Y’all can do better! Curtis and Diane Smith

Practically Useless!!

For many years I subscribed to print edition but the current rates for print or online versions are way too expensive. Most of the articles featured in the app are for subscribers only thereby making the app useless. Only tho g I use it for these days are the obituaries.

It used to work, not anymore

Seriously, what’s the point if it won’t load anymore?

Need to be able to search the archives

What I truly regret is that the search button is total trash! Why have it? It doesn’t pull related articles and It doesn’t search the archives for past events. Please make that an option.

More to Athens than UGA sports.

Inundated with “Subscribe” ads. Now the Oconee Blotter requires subscription. More relevant content beyond sports after sports story, fresher updates might encourage a subscription. For now count me out.

A good hometown newspaper!

It’s a good thing to know what’s going on in your town. ABH keeps you up to date. Dawgs, music, restaurants and that other stuff.
Thanks!

ENewspaper

Why is it so hard to get to the comics and puzzles? It used to be very easy to pull up the front page and navigate to the comics and puzzles and print. What am I doing wrong? Haven’t been able to print the cryptoquote and puzzles. I’m about to give up.

ENewspaper

It warms my heart every day when I login to the Athens Banner Herald and see “Good morning Judy.” You definitely start my day the right way. Thanks so much!

The old E paper app was much better

I don't like the E paper feature on the full news app at all. The response time is very laggy, particularly for zooming in and out. And the decision to not use the built-in iPad share menu cripples this feature. In addition, shared links are useless unless the recipient has the full news app. Why would I even need to share a link to an article if the recipient already has the app and can read it by simply opening the epaper? I realize that I can share an image of the epaper article. But this feature is extremely kludgy compared to being able to share the actual text of the article or a link to a webpage, showing the article, that is not behind a pay wall. The old E paper app was much better. But apparently it is now abandonware. It now has a super annoying nag screen that encourages the user to install the Banner-Herald full news app. I have already installed the full news app. But the nag screen continues to pop up every time I open the current app and every time I switch away from the app and back to it!! The only advantage of the new app is that the news is more up-to-date.

We need the journalists that provide this education!

Many thanks

Worthy, easy to use newspaper site

Keeps me up-to-date on local activities in my area.

When it works, it’s fine

Long time subscriber and still, I keep getting blocked from content with an ad telling me to subscribe. You’d think something as basic as recognizing a logged in user as a current subscriber wouldn’t be difficult.

Terrible

Every time I try to read something it says “only for subscribers” which I am. So I sign in (again!) go back to article , get an ad asking if I want to subscribe. Erghhhhhhh

More local news

Needs more local news stories and fewer sports stories.

Terrible

Crashes constantly. It never saves your place reading. Every time the phone idles it resets back to the Home Screen of the app. The ads are so big you constantly click them accidentally, which redirects you to either safari or more often, the App Store. Then when you try to switch back to what you were reading, the app has reset and lost your place.

And none of that mentions the annoying content promotion getting pushed by the editors, or the infrequency of new articles. Both of those are more an issue with the quality of the publication…. The shortcomings of the app just make it that much worse.
