Tried to use for the team I coach. Couldn’t get the iPad to pick up the speed of the puck. Followed directions to the inch. Waste of money.
Amazing Radar Gun!!
I highly recommend this app. It works just as good as a radar gun, but i would prefer the app over the radar gun. It is simply better than a radar gun because for one you can use it by yourself. But not with a radar gun. If you are a person looking for a good radar gun app, BUY THIS ONE!!!! I have a family member that works for the police, and he was able to borrow one for me. I tried the radar gun then the app. They both had the same speed. The app is so much more convenient though. You can hook it up to multiple devices, and it works like a charm. PLEASE if you are looking for a cheap radar gun get this one. It is only 11.99 for one sport, and 13.99 for all sports. (Ultimate Edition) I do not work for Athla, I was just a customer like you looking for a good cheap radar gun. And I am a very satisfied customer.

Very helpful for a Little Leaguer...
I was a little leery about purchasing the app, but after a few days use it seems to provide good consistent feedback on pitch velocity for fastballs and change ups. I am using an iPhone 6 (camera) with a G-Boom Bluetooth speaker and have linked an iPad to "see" the speed. Have used the Bushnell but prefer the Altha Velocity app--at least for pitcher-catcher practice. Does not work consistently in low light (indoors) conditions.

Fun for Kids Baseball Practice
I'm no expert on speed but it seemed pretty accurate. Between my both my son's fastballs and curve balls they were noticeably different. What they enjoyed most was seeing how fast they could throw. It made practice very exciting and made them work longer and harder. It wasn't difficult to setup. Loved how the app announced the speed. What I would like to see with the app is to be able to setup users and track their individual progress.

This app didn't work at all! We followed the directions perfectly and nothing!! And

Not Impressed
This app relies on precise distance for accuracy. A fastball straight down the pipe will record accurately, but, anything other than a straight shot will cause significant variance. My 12yo son was recording the same speed on an inside curveball as an outside 2-seamer. Those same pitches will be 12-14mph different on his pitching coach's radar. A ball thrown high in the strike zone will show up faster than a ball at the knees thrown at the same speed. The 20' side distance needed also means you can't use the app in games as your device would have to be in the field to work. The YouTube video is also misleading as it make it look like the developer is standing behind the pitcher recording speed and it is really coming from a second linked device from the side. I really wish apps like these came with a trial period. I'd like my $16 back.

does NOT work as described
It has to be EXACTLY 20 ft to the side to work…so cant use in game, just for bullpen sessions. On my iPhone 6, it locks up after 5-6 pitches. iPhone seems to freeze for about 10-15 secs when trying to reset/close the app. Its not as easy to setup/use as they portray. Wish I could get a refund….

I use this app for tennis serves and I hook it up to my Bluetooth speaker and it tells me the speeds! I love it and I know it's really accurate. well worth the money

My friend set it up at Golden Gate Park with the Varsity Boys Gateway High School Baseball team. They threw pitches for over half an hour and it picked up virtually every one. Ten kids lined up to test their throws and then kept getting back in line. Most kids threw in the 50s. The pitcher threw as high as 69mph. Even a girl from the stands came down and threw in the 40s. Then one kid on the team, who wasn't even a pitcher, threw a 78 mph ball. The kids gasped and thought it was a mistake - but then he threw them again and again. He had no idea he had such a great arm. The pitcher said, "you should try out! We need more pitchers!" The team was second in the league at the time. It makes you wonder how many other kids out there have hidden talent and don't even realize it! Not sure why the other reviewer had a problem. Just be sure no one moves during the pitch if they are standing in view of the device. At 10x cheaper than the least expensive radar out there - this is a great app!

Awesome!!!
My previous review still is true for the new version. I just used this app at my son's group tennis lesson. It was a huge hit!! We were able to set it up with no trouble and even used the game link to yell out scores to students. Within five minutes of setting up I had ten teenager in line waiting for their turn! Many of them clocked in at well over 80 mph, one even made it to 101 mph. Wondering if other user didn't have the angle set properly. The app read the speed as fast as we could hit the balls and students all commented that the reading were very similar to readings they've had before.
I wish I had this when I was growing up!! This app is well worth the cost! Every time I use it there is a crowd of people wanting to try it. You just have to make sure you set it up properly and then you will be hooked! After one private lesson with this app my son's personal best got better!!

Awesome - Works Great
This is not an app. It's a full blown multi-sport speed detection / radar system. It works flawlessly. I would have gladly payed $50 for it.
Great App
I have been looking for an app like this for awhile to help my daughter improve in softball. It is very consistent and easy to use. I plan to also use it for our team to help them improve in the off season. I gave it four stars because it needs a few additional features like session tagging but I understand that is coming. This is a very young app and I am sure there will be many upgrades that make it even better. Someone will have to come up with a heck of an app to make me stray from this one.
