Completely useless

This is what happens when a company wants to be "app enabled" but doesn't care to spend money creating something worthwhile. The app doesn't stay connected, gets hung up on firmware updates, and refuses to sync any data. It's also incredibly poorly designed from a UI standpoint.

The keyboard frequently covers the fields you need to access. The data structure and options would have been outdated in 1985. I spent the time to enter my rifles and all my available ammo profiles, only to realize it binds ammo entries to an individual rifle with no way to duplicate or move an entry. The included database is so embarrassingly small and outdated, I don't know why they bother.

The hardware itself is solid, but I'm returning this for a Garmin C1 Xero entirely because this app is an insult to anyone paying money for this product. Do better, Athlon.

Turn Bluetooth “ON” error UPDATE.

Well, I was finally able to get my Rangecraft Velocity Pro connected. It seemed I tried everything, but I think it was a setting on my phone. I was making so many setting changes and doing hard reboots.
After I was successful connecting the rest was rather easy. Updated firmware, created more gun and ammo profiles, etc. I also watched a good YouTube video from Athlon showing additional features and how to make app changes.
I am very happy with the chrono and app at this time. I only wish they had a Vortex Crossfire scope BDC reticle listed, but it is a low cost scope. Sooo, 1star to 5stars.

Can’t connect

Locks up when I try to register. Can’t get past the sign up page

Frustrating to add information

After a day at the range, I’m trying to add notes to my chronograph data. If you leave the text field and come back, it deletes everything you’ve added in so you need to re-enter it. This also happens when entering titles for the different chronograph data samples. Very frustrating to the point I’m going to write things down on paper and not use the app. Horribly designed user interface.

Third time back to update this review. I was just trying to export my data into a spreadsheet when the app on my phone crashed. When I reopened it all my chronograph data for the day except for one entry was gone. Thankfully, I hadn’t formatted the memory on the chronograph yet so no problem right? Think again. The app and the chronograph will not sync the data that was lost. $200 of ammo used for velocity data and I have nothing to show for it at the end of the day. Thanks for nothing Athlon. The more I use this app, the more I wish I got a Garmin.

Complexed and buggy

I thought getting a higher priced Chronograph was supposed to mean less hassle getting the data when it matters. All I have found is app crashes when accessing it
If you want to get the best out of your chronograph and your an airgun user, be prepared to research the hell out of each pellet to get ballistic Coefficient then figure out the length plus the fps of said pellet before you have shot it through your rifle. The G1 and G7 profiles are not suitable for airguns. For a sub £400 Chrono I expected more. Disappointing does not cover it

Sucks

Terrible ap, made by a 13 year old. Can’t even create an account

Awesome Chrono

The Chrono is great, getting it connected takes a little effort but seems to be working well!

Character limits

Please remove the character limits on rifle and bullet profiles, it’s currently very short and cumbersome to come up with abbreviations.

Please also add an option to view the sound barrier on the dope chart.

Not consistent

So I have been to range a few times and this app does not pull all of your shots from the device itself. Athlon does not put any effort into fixing this issue it seems. They need to look at the Caldwell app and take some notes that thing is flawless. For that I would not recommend buying a range craft to anyone.

Great update

Great ballistics solution! While the app did have issues with pairing to devices, these seem to be resolved!

Will not sync sessions

The hardware works fine for the most part, but the app will not sync any sessions to my phone making it useless

May 2026: certified disaster

First the hardware seems solid. The app seemed to track all the shots accurately as i could determine and despite the quirks (annoying but live-able), exporting data out is where it fails. I can only see 4 of 6 sessions on iPhone (was showing all of them earlier). So when I export to excel I don’t have two sessions.
I synced to ipad, saw all six sessions, but once exported, all had same session name, cartridge, projectile grain weight and other variables!

To figure out, I was fortunate as i was also plotting the grouping separately on graph paper and wrote session start time on each load so i could reconcile. I looked at session time and shot count, then and figured it out. All the session names, the notes section were reverted. Even syncing with iPad it was not there. Added hours to post shooting reconciliation. I didn’t appreciate if i had not been taking paper notes, that i may had had to reshoot $250 in ammo if I couldn’t disentangle this mess

Weak

The Athlon ballistic light app is very weak. I could not get my phone to receive the data from the chronograph, even though it was paired on both devices.
Update as of 11May26: it paired with the phone and updated the firmware with no issues. Will try it out soon.

Need Additional menus

Need menus to add different bows, crossbows and air rifles or air gun.
Having a menu just for rifles limit what you can do with this app.
Also, the choice for reticle is ridiculous.
A lot of work is needed obviously and I hope you will spend time to improve it.

Athlon ballistic app

App will not open on iPhone. I downloaded it on my android phone and it worked fine then I got a new iPhone and it will not login nothing happens when you click the login button.

Works as advertised

This is a basic, no-frills app that works well with the Athlon Rangemaster. Once you create your weapon (pistol, rifle, pellet, bow), you can download your chronograph to the particular projectile and you have your ranging as far as you need it to be.

Worthless

I have this version and it is not possible to enter either elevation or DA. It imports Barometric Pressure not station pressure.

Do better!

I am blown away by how painful this is to use. After spending $400 on their chronograph that touts an app and Bluetooth connection I had much higher expectation. The chronograph works great, but this app has me considering returning it and going with the competition.
