Great site; lousy app

I went round and round when I attempted to create an account on the Atlas Obscura app. Even after finally beating the gremlins, I was met with no fields everywhere. No map; no history of my visited sites nor any ability to create them. I will enjoy the information and insights while cringing at the effort it takes.

Atlas Obscura

Not accurate

Needs improving

The concept is really neat, but I can’t access my private lists that I created. It defeats the purpose if I can’t access the list I made to see what places I’ve saved. You also can’t add places on the map using the mobile app.

W app

Theres nothing wrong with this website except i cant seem to find the “add place” button

Website great; app TERRIBLE

The interface is poorly thought out (UX specialists exist for a reason). Features are lacking. The features they DO have don’t ever work. I can’t believe they still haven’t fixed these things that have been broken for years.

For a crowd-sourced site, they make it impossible to edit, make corrections, or even add a tip. Why do you have a button to add a tip if you can’t actually submit it?

And again that’s been broken for years.

Do yourself a favor and just use the website.

Amazing app!!

Amazing app

Want to see the world but can’t afford the cost?

Atlas Obscura is a wonderful quick trip away from anything that may be bothering you. While waiting for the dentist or other appointments, let your mind wander. I wish my phone app had a feature that could let me search for a location I once visited and if AO had been there, I could see it once again.

Issue

This is a high-quality site but it’s not allowing me to login with my credentials so I’m frustrated

Great for adventurers

I’ve always wanted an app like this

Misleading

It should be named the landmark atlas. All of the blips on the map are known historical sites. Yeah sure outsiders might not know about them but a quick google screening could give you all of these places if you’re a traveler. I thought this app was about the rare and obscure. Old unused roads and decaying buildings / infrastructure that tell stories of old ways. Old stone building frames telling stories of past settlers and their journeys. Old roads and bridges which give explanation to how a community worked 200+ years ago

The Most Interesting App!

It made my trip to Venice WAY cooler

A bit glitchy

The app worked alright when I first downloaded it, but it’s logged me out three times today. Also, the feature to report a location as permanently closed is not working, which is a bummer, because I keep running across locations that are empty storefronts.

Good and frustrating

Love the idea of finding the odd spots wherever I go. I enjoy the off the beaten path places.

However, do not expect the app to be accurate. I tried to suggest an edit of something I know for a fact to be wrong and the submit button does not work. So I tried adding it as a tip. The Tip submit button does not work either.

Great app, but lots of bugs

Amazing app with tons of interesting locations. App is very buggy though.

Still broken

Their map shows me nothing making nearly worthless.

A bit disappointed

I’ve been so looking forward to finding an app that actually is pretty decent. This app has a great concept unfortunately it does not give you the option of setting your location and mileage for distance for anything that is within your area. Most of the things that I have come across are over 1000 miles

Places submitted. Never respond slow app

I’ve sent in multiple places with photos and websites. No response. Really disappointing. They also reject things [ ie abandoned hotel on an island) but choose stupid things that are about as obscure as white bread.
What this app needs is better vetting, better responses and at least one person that could answer email.
And. Make it faster. Load time is really bad. From NYC to Prague. It’s too slow.

Love this app

I love this app!! I always find so many awesome hidden gems and I found out about it on Delta Air Lines flight when I had logged into their wifi- they were promoting

Itchy feet

Adored the site for many years. However the app would be more enjoyable if it expanded to fit an iPad screen. My old eyes aren’t what they used to be.

No app support at all

I downloaded this the other day because my passion is taking road trips down back roads, and finding New places. Downloading the app. I had a couple of places that I wanted to add and it would not allow me to update. I sent feedback emails twice and still no response. What’s the use if you can’t follow up with your support…..
