About

Aurea is a concept redesign of an employer health-benefits app, paired with Sage, an AI benefits navigator. This build is a portfolio/case-study demo: all member data, claims, and plan documents are synthetic. Not affiliated with any insurer or benefits vendor named in the app.

Sage answers differently: -Tappable reply chips. A tapped chip becomes their message and the chips disappear. Once someone types, chips only return when a question genuinely has several answers. -Benefit cards in the chat: name, what they pay, and one limit line (prior authorization, visit caps, sick-visit billing), opening the full benefit page. -Symptom questions lead with talking to a nurse and never judge severity. Bills go step by step instead of one long handoff. Insurance words explained in place: -Every glossary term is underlined wherever it appears: benefit pages, the claim cost breakdown, and Sage's replies. -Tapping one opens a definition with a real example and related terms you can move between. On iOS it's a system sheet capped at 70% of the screen; on web a dialog at half the screen, closing on Escape, the X, or a click outside. -Only the first mention in a block is marked, and acronyms only match when capitalized, so ordinary words don't turn into links. -Glossary grew to 50 terms, including a new "Diagnostic care" entry. Preventive vs diagnostic: -A new explainer page: what makes care preventive (free in network) or diagnostic (your normal share), what decides which one you get, and the four reasons a bill still arrives. -18 benefits carry a two-line callout above the fold. On a mammogram: preventive when routine, diagnostic when it's looking at a lump. -Built from the HHS preventive care page and the BCBS glossary you sent, plus your plan documents' own wording. Appearance: -The app opens light, with a switch offering Light, Dark, and Match system, beside the DEMO badge on every screen. The choice persists. Accessibility (the reason the App Accessibility page can be filled in): -Larger Text: all 188 text styles were frozen in points and ignored the system size entirely. They scale now. -VoiceOver and Voice Control: names for the icon-only controls, including send, the Sage button, and the typing indicator. -Reduced Motion honored on the chat auto-scroll. -Differentiate Without Color Alone: every colored state carries an icon and a label. -Sufficient Contrast: the dark palette was measured, not eyeballed. Body text at 4.5:1 or better, borders at 3:1. -Dark Interface: supported, and with Match system it satisfies the strictest reading of it. Backend and web, already live: -Everything above also ships on sage-health-agent.vercel.app, plus a keyboard focus ring across the site. -21 new glossary terms deployed earlier in the session, with a "Your rights" filter. -All 38 benefit descriptions rewritten without em dashes, which Sage quotes verbatim, plus the remaining em dashes in visible app copy. -Vendor logos sit on a light plate in dark mode, since they're dark ink drawn for a white card. -Two bugs caught by testing rather than compiling: Sage replies breaking into separate bubbles around each underlined term, and the whole icon library loading on every app page. Design system and Figma: -New section on 01 · Components: the term underline with its states, the web modal on a dimmed 1280 frame, and the iOS sheet at its 70% detent on a 375 frame, plus the appearance switch. -Earlier in the session: the chip and benefit card components, plan limit rows, two caution tokens, and the two customer journey maps. -Closed a real drift: three border variables still held pre-audit values that failed contrast. Added the missing primitives and repointed the aliases, so Figma and code now agree. Submission housekeeping: -Review notes carry the submission history, the corrected appearance claim, and a "what to test" line. -What's New copy for 1.1 is written and ready to paste. -Worth knowing: 1.0 was already approved, which is why build 7 was refused as 1.0 and this went up as 1.1.
