Not all features working
Bought this app for the view giving all details of a color including CIELAB and CIEXYZ values. Unfortunately, those details seem to require server-side calculations (which are not currently working) rather than being computed on the phone. Hope that server support might be brought back up?
Trouble with the color details
I don’t understand. When I choose the color, the name and information isn’t loading too fast, it’s loading too long. And when I copy the info, it only shows nothing, (excluding the Hex) like rgb (0, 0, 0), hsv(0, 0, 0), etc.
Can you fix this, please?
Thank you.

Might be ok if…
It seems like it might be a good app, but without any instructions on how to use it, it is pretty worthless.
Love the app
Extremely accurate with the color picker. One problem I have is that the fps drops significantly when color picking a photo in your camera roll. Other than that this is a very excellently made app.
Update coming?
Hi there - just wanted to check if there is a plan to continue updating and maintaining this app? Right now since the last couple iOS updates not all functionality for the app is working - I can’t create new colors or review the details of one’s I have saved.
Response from developer
Hi there, I would love to know more about the issues and bugs you're facing! I'm also reachable via Twitter @JPEGuin.
Horraura
Within two minutes of downloading, this application was nagging me for a review… It might have been better for the developer if I'd acquiesced; while I was impressed with it initially, using it for five minutes revelaed it to be buggy and crash-prone. Clicking one of the buttons – I think the 'details tab' button on the main interface (I was so new to it that I hadn't even oriented) – casued it to hang with a 'Fetching details…' spinner. Closing the 'details' window reliably crashed the app, every time, as did quiting Terminal when I attempted to reopen from Apple's 'Crash' dialogue. Not worth the space on my HD, let alone £2.49; deleted.

Great Concept, but very buggy
Solid app design, it’s the best I’ve found in its category in terms of simplicity and navigation…when it works. It’s currently very buggy. When I “heart” a color, the app crashes. When I create a new palette, the app crashes. Every time.
Otherwise, it’s really great, and hoping that the developer will address the various bugs so that I can finally use it to its full potential!

Great App!
This app is packed with useful information. I love the colour palette options! It is great for exporting swatches to procreate, plus, the UI is amazing and I would recommend this to everyone. The only thing I would like to see is a colour wheel when picking colours.
Crashes all of the time
It is not possible to close windows without the app crashing. Please fix this. This was a very useful app, but now it is unusable.
New owners
I used to love Aurora, and was surprised to see the reviews in the state they are in, but then I grabbed it again and it made sense.
The original author of this app (who you can find in the release notes for older versions) appears to have sold this and several other of his older apps to PoeticBytes, and every single one of them has reviews that mention crashing, strange behaviors, and functionality that just plain doesn't work.
Aurora is definitely in sad shape now. It crashes frequently, windows can't resize correctly, I even got it into a state where each time I opened it, it opened multiple copies of the main window, and crashed when I tried to close one.
On top of this, as of time of writing, PoeticBytes has no support or contact information on their site. I would definitely avoid any of their apps until/unless these issues are resolved.

iPad yes but MacOS not very useful
This app works weil on the iPad but the MacOS version needs work. The detail windows are too small and if you try to close one the whole app disappears.
Beautiful app
Lovely app, does a great job and looks good doing it. My only request would be to be able to export palettes as a PAL (JASC) and or GPL (Gimp) which are quite universal formats so that I can open the palette in other programs without needing a desktop app like Sip to pick the colors from the palette I created here. Exporting aside it’s a well made app and well worth the couple of dollars!

If you have color deficiency, keep shopping.
I just want to use the eyedrop to pick a color and have the app tell me it's green. This thing has the same functionality as numerous other color identifying apps. It gets you HEX, RGB, KGB, FBI and the whole alphabet. It just won't say "green".
Tries to do 50 things
I'm actually not sure what the point of this app is. The first screenshot says "Find your hue," which it doesn't really let you do. It simply displays colors if you already happen to know the hex. OR it lets you use Apple's color picker to choose a color to then view the color. Thanks..
The other screenshot says "Pick your hue." This is also lackluster. Zero consideration for alpha transperency in images. Zero ability to zoom or even see at the pixel level which color I can pick.
What the app can actually do: Convert values from RGB to CMYK. But it's the same amount of work as pasting a hex code into Google or Wolfram and zero additional benefit.
Straight-up: It overpromises and under-delivers.

Excellent for a beginner painter
I’m new to painting and I purchased this app to help me identify color palettes. My favorite feature is the ability to import a photo and get a list of all of the colors from the image, that was exactly what I was looking for in an app.
I’ve also been using the live camera to scan my mixed paints to see how accurate my mixtures are for my palette.

The app I have been searching for!
Not only the app I have been searching for... one that is universal over all Apple Devices including Mac and one I didn’t think would be handy... the Apple Watch!! Having a Hex code on the tiny screen to quickly reference while on the iPhone is perfect, just what I need nothing more or less. The iPad app is also really handy for on the go where my Macbook Pro is too heavy for taking on long trips. For £2.99 you cannot go wrong!! 👏🏻💯

Love this app
They finally made the smart color picker I've been wanting for so long. Uncomplicated, gets out of the way, color selection looks great!
So Much Promise, Undelivered
Baffles me why this app is constantly so highly rated. It's nice that there's a "color picker" available across MacOS & iOS unlike all the MacOS-only alternatives, but it doesn't amount much if it doesn't work.
The color picker tools on both platforms are a mess. Real-time selection on MacOS requires clicking on a toolbar button, then pressing command enter on the keyboard to sample the selection—at least it's supposed to, but that never works.
Between the muddled UI metaphors, lack of real color/palette organizaing, and unreliable syncing, don't expect to get much out of this app if you sink your money into this.
I did in the hopes of investing towards what would develop into a useful cross-platform color picker, all it's been so far is a great disappointment.

Updated and still 5 stars
Phenomenal response to a wish list set of features I only ever hoped could happen! This is a game changer in creating exportable swatches to and from Procreate and even opens up a cottage industry for those who offer swatches online! I can now provide clients with a print out of complimentary colours so they can select art that has a fit with their space, and yes art should be hung irrespective of colour but art buyers are increasingly looking for Insta moments when they showcase their newly acquired works!
I cannot believe just how responsive the developer is. This is getting featured on my blog, and as a professional digital artist I rarely pick apps to recommend to fellow artists unless they meet every pillar of expectation I have, this goes beyond my pillars, and creeps up ahead of some of the big name apps in the digital art space. Absolutely phenomenal, surprisingly easy to use, and one of the apps of the year for creating digital art. Thank you!

Fantastic App
One thing I would love to see added to this is to be able to export color pallets to Procreate or Photoshop. I think this would make the app sooooo important for painters / artist. Fantastic work btw.

I upped to 5 star! I tip my hat to you and happy I paid for this.

Thank you for the great feedback! The ability to import and export palettes to and from Procreate has now been added to the latest version.
