Judging this app kinda tells me these guys don’t have much of a following and Have a hard time competing.. I was hoping for a good app/drone DJI alternative. It’s not optimized for the x series phones which have been around for years already. I would like to see a tap to fly feature added.. the app in general seems a little stripped down. But I’m sure it has features DJI doesn’t.
But maybe you cater to a niche market and the things I mentioned would just be Polish?

NEVER GOING TO BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN
My autel drone got dead battery, and can’t buy anymore because they stop making them, a 700 dlls paperweight, and no support from autel….
Incredibly Disappointed with Autel on this one
The app is unusable on iOS 13 (most likely beyond) Autels customer support is a major reason why I purchased the drone to begin with. However, as the drone is discontinued autel has given up with supporting the x-star. If by chance you are reading this autel, I understand that updating this app will not bring any profit but since you have shown me that you do not support discontinued models, my next drone will be a DJI

APP UPDATE ISSUE
I have problem with IOS 13, the camera does not connect and has few bugs that needs to be fixed ASAP otherwise this is going to be bad on Autel Company

Have product tested and pseudo ready before you announce it at CES made same mistake multiple times with you - shame on me

Will you guys please help us out an fix the app an make it work with newer iOS 13 it’s not right that we spend a lot of money just to not be able to get the full capabilities it offers I know you guys can find the time to if that’s the case have a system that buys your own drones back do to these issues. Please help tho cause I do not want to get rid of your drones at all I love your team an your products can’t wait till the evo 2 is finally shipping please do the right thing autel please. Best customer service ever!!!
I had an issue with my drone I called them and hung up before anybody answered thinking it’s just gonna be a waste of time. Within 2 minutes I get a call from them and they assisted me with my issue . Never had such great customer service, for that I’m a loyal customer.
Live Video Latency Issues
UPDATE: I called Autel and apparently there is a simple fix to the video latency issue. Once you open the Starlink app, go to the in-app settings under the general settings tab. Once there disable “Hardware decoding”. I’m still disappointed that this bug hasn’t been addressed officially in over a year, but I am raising my rating from 1-star to 3-stars.
Ever since this update, my drone has been having major issues streaming a live feed back to my iPhone. The video feed I get is approximately one frame every 5-10 seconds, which is not ideal or safe for flying. When using an android phone, there is no issue.
Autel, this app hasn’t been updated in two years. Don’t be one of those companies that drops all support to your early customers and hardware just because you have a shiny new device you want to sell.
Once this issue is resolved, I’ll happily re-evaluate my one-star rating.

Please fix for iOS 13
Love video is laggy. I’m receiving one frame per every fix seconds or so. I tested the app on an iPhone running iOS 12 and it’s fine. Please fix!

As MANY other reviewers have noted - the app developers have dropped off the planet.
After updating my iPhone - live view on the app is basically dead. It’s like trying to get a live picture from the Mars rover. I get maybe 1 frame per minute. Tech support seemed to have no idea this was an issue. I smell a rat.
I bought this drone, and now I have a pretty little case full of shiny stuff I can’t use. I guess I need an old iPhone to run the app, because they have CLEARLY not put a roadmap together to update their app.
No doubt I’ll get the typical copy and paste ‘Thanks for your feedback. We have fixed this.’ under this review.

iPhone Xs Max
I have problem with iphone xs max. The video on the iphone have a delay, and can’t use the Drone because this delay. I download the app in the iphone xs max of my wife, and I have the problem with both devices. Both devices have a delay. Please fix the app.
Autel Support is Awesome
App works fine. Does not crash, allows you to fly anywhere.
Support is incredible. My bird is the older X-Star Premium but have just not had any trouble with but the battery and Autel made that up very quickly. I wish other companies responded with this type of service!

Distance and Video response has plummeted
After applying this update my X-Star Premium has become my least favorite drone to fly. It seems like it is stuck in beginners mode.
The video dropout it horrible now, and this is when flying where there aren’t any homes. I am talking about pure farmland in AR. I have now put this drone away until another update comes out, and have gone back to flying my DJI Phantom 4. I have had my Phantom 4 for many months before buying my X-Star Premium. When I started flying the Aurelia it quickly became my favorite over the DJI, but like I mentioned that has reversed for now. Come on Autel! Release a new update with more video power from the controller. I wish my Autel flew like it did before the update.

Do not update to iOS 11.2 UPDATED
Have owned my XSP for over a year now and until lately it and this app has been flawless, and would have gladly given them both 5 stars. After updating to iOS 11.2 much of the functionality has been lost. Live feed and telemetry is fine but settings, aircraft status, and especially camera settings and adjustments do not work. I have verified this borrowing a friend’s iOS device running 10.x. Still not sure if this is an Autel or Apple issue, I’ve read both ways. Hopefully this is resolved soon, and until then I’ll likely keep my aircraft grounded. Just not worth taking a chance of flying with limited control. The aircraft relies fairly heavily on the app for its primary purpose, and if the app is broken so is the bird. If I know Autel though, this one will be fixed soon as their customer service is second to no one.
Update: Since iOS 11.3 all functionality has returned, and apart from one intermittent glitch has been working flawlessly. That glitch would be when in “follow me” mode and the aircraft falls into “low battery” and begins its auto go to home mode, the mode can not be cancelled despite repeatedly pressing the “cancel go home” button on the screen. Most times eventually it will cancel but not without me having a near heart attack that my aircraft is going someplace I don’t want it to return to! This glitch is the only reason I give 4 stars and not 5. Not sure if it’s the app, the aircraft firmware, or normal operation. Still, DJI can eat their heart out, this app and the XStar Premium are excellent products, extremely reliable, and customer service is second to none. I continue to recommend them to anyone interested in getting into aerial photography.
