Ridiculous

Changes of these now charges are ridiculous. How are you gonna charge first responders and limit them from 3 maps to none?! When they’re helping save communities, life etc!

Denali NP USGS Big Help

Used USGS download for Denali NP backcountry. Really helped us cross-check our position couple times.

Stay away from this app

I’ve been using this app in it’s free version since a trip to Japan in 2023 and more frequently since moving to Australia (where there aren’t any good local map apps like there are in NZ). You can buy and upload TasMap files to the app but recently they have imposed a limit on important more than a handful of maps, demanding that you subscribe for $60 USD per year to upload any more - all this will not really having an effective library of topo maps you can use for the money. It’s a very bad deal and a particularly cynical subscription, there are better free options out there like NomadTracks. Stay away!

Ignis

Pretty disappointing Avenza! Flat Backin Baggers!
There’s a Different one called Ignis it’s free, just started using it on the Egypt & Second Flat fire. Works decent so far, you can track, drop pins, see the past 25 years of previous Wildfires, a bunch of cool layers you can use!
And hold more than 3 maps at a time🍻

Worst customer service

I upgraded to Plus four days ago. I immediately tried to import a georeferenced custom map. I got a notice that I had already exhausted my quota (on the first try!). I’ve been trying to contact customer service since, but they’re impossible to reach. You can’t talk to a human.

Greedy

Avenza got greedy and firefighters no longer can use this tool unless they pay Avenza’s ransom. Deleted from my phone!

Preposterous

You guys dropped the ball big time with only having 20 custom maps per year. This is going to drive a lot of Clients away from your app. I use this function for my job and can easily go through 50 maps in one working season. 50 would be a much fairer number seeing the high price point of your plus, not to mention the steep price point of the pro. I’ll be using up my 20 free maps and likely moving into another app and cancelling my subscription

Take care :)

Best Map application I have used and I have been in the forestry industry for 34 years

A greedy bait and switch

I’ve used this app for years with great success. The best feature is the GPS shows you where you are on the map. Just got a notice that they are now only offering that GPS feature on their “pro plan,” for $39/yr. I’ve spent a considerable some over the years purchasing maps for this app from their store. This feels like a real greedy bait and switch.

Tim

This app was fantastic for years but has recently been changed. You now have to pay for accessing personally created maps This is why I had the app so now either I pay or find an alternative. FO Maps is a free alternative according to Reddit. I haven’t used it yet but will give it a shot. I just downloaded it and will be deleting Avenza…frustrating! I guess they need to make money but you’d think adds would have worked…

Great maps

Use them when out in the forest

OZARK mountains

Map is just about on the spot.
There is a bunch of trails that my Garmin showed that this did not
But it did give me good gps assistance with the tracking vary on the spot when I was looking for my next trail.

Plain Stupid

For me difficult to use should be easier for no brainers.

Useless without paid subscription

The app is useless without paying for a subscription. I don’t meant limited use without a subscription. I mean you can’t do anything with it unless you pay for it. You can’t download one map to try the functionality before paying. I’d used this years ago and it was pretty cool but it’s just a money grab now, particularly with their marketing to government park agencies for product placement.

It was a good app, but not since this year

Good and then greedy

It was a good mapping app and then they got greedy, set the price waaay to high for what it is. Bye bye Avenza!

Good

New pay to use firefighting

Pretty much all wildland firefighters use this app
It helps us fight fires, but now we can’t use it without paying for a subscription
It’s lame bring back the old map this app is a genius and amazing app. I just wish that I wouldn’t have to pay for it.
Or at least make it so first responders don’t have to

Getting to big for there own good

Deleted all my maps and paid for a subscription and it just keeps saying I have to buy the pro version. So now I pay for the upgrade and you rip me off another $160
