I’ve used this app for years for geo pdfs but with the recent update, they have made it so you have to have a subscription in order to upload even a single map. Delete.
Map limit bad for backpacking
The new subscription structure is really hostile. I actually paid because I don’t mind supporting the application a bit. However, the limit to maps you can import is 10. This is completely arbitrary and hostile to users. The problem is that hikers who prepare maps in Garmin or CalTopo typically have a few pages of maps in a pdf and these all count as separate maps. You can’t import a pdf with more than 10 pages of maps now. Remove this ridiculous limit and maybe people would actually be willing to pay.

Told me the free trail for the pro version would cancel and then charged me anyways. Cannot find the cancel substitution button on the app. Cheap way to make a buck
Useless
As a long-term casual user, I am very disappointed with the pricing plan change. I have happily used the app for many years for cross country backpacking. I like to know where I am. Now, as a “free” user, the only map I can access is the OSM. This map is absolutely useless. I cannot see the details of this map. As suck I am unable to navigate with it.

Alas, they have gone corporate
Long time user loading my own maps (sensitive areas) but alas downloading private maps now costs $170 a year which is a bit steep. Will search out a more supportive app for my not for profit activities.

Price Gouging Greedy New Owners
Avenza was recently acquired by an investment firm and sold
By the original CEO. Since then they have increased the price forcing customers to pay 4.5 x more than they did prior, now we have to buy the pro version and they took away functions from the plus version. You’ve lost a customer forever and everyone is talking about doing the same. Horrible decision making fueled by greed, thanks for ruining a great app for people that relied on it and loved it for work.

My go to river app
I have been using these maps for years. The accuracy is impressive. The ability to know where we are on the river has saved me from more than just one take-out mistake.

I’m up to my limit of subscription services. There’s free apps out there and this one just went subscription or nothing . So I chose nothing,Later Avenza
Updated map limits
This app has been great for so long, but the recent changes to custom map import limits is making me look for alternative apps.
Used to be better
As a wildland fire safety officer, I used to be able to download custom maps with the free version. Now, I can’t so I’m forced to purchase a plan. The wildland fire community is being pushed into using Field maps, and I may eventually go that route, too.

I like how once I get to a fire you guys made an import limit so I’m screwed on mapping at the moment.

Lifetime limit on custom maps whether you delete some or not, yet charges a huge annual fee what an absolute rort.
Functional sort of
Terrible user interface. If you’re really patient and don’t mind unnecessarily complicated steps to make field notes and edits you may find this app to be ok. It does the job but does so in a very inefficient manner. This is magnified while in the field and dealing with less than ideal environmental conditions.

What a disgrace
The best app for custom maps now locks this behind a paywall. Not even support for a single one. Used to use this with a whole voluntary team and now this is impossible due to the premium simply not being feasible for a whole team. I’m seriously disgusted by the greed.
Greedy app developers
This app was the gold standard for offline and user friendly field maps. But now that the new upgrade pay plans have been used, the app is essentially useless unless you’re willing to pay $230 CAD. I mistakenly paid for an upgrade from my grandfathered version where it was a one time upgrade. Thankfully my iPad still has the grandfathered version so I’ll be using that. Definitely need an alternative app.

Paywall & Data Freeze
Very disappointed with recent changes no longer allowing custom maps without a paid subscription & preventing publishers from updating their maps in the Avenza store. This was my favourite mapping app for the back country & it is now unusable.
