About
AviationWiser IFR Trainer is a practice tool for instrument-rating students, pilots and instructors. Drag the aircraft, change the wind and see how holding entries, VOR and ILS needles, DME arcs and the six-pack respond.
Ten trainers in one app
• Holding: place the aircraft and see the entry (direct, parallel or teardrop) and the pattern. Quick entry, Build and Fly modes. With wind, compare the exact wind-corrected solution with the AIM 3x rule.
• VOR: turn the OBS and read the CDI and TO/FROM. Position, Intercept, DME fix and Fix to fix modes.
• ILS / LOC: drag the aircraft in plan or side view and watch the localizer and glideslope needles.
• DME Arc: find where to start the turn so you roll out on the radial. Exit and Entry modes.
• ADF / RMI: fixed-card ADF and rotating-card RMI side by side, with homing and tracking.
• HSI: a heading-driven card with course arrow and CDI, plus "Where am I?" to find your position from the indications.
• Procedure Turn: 45/180, 80/260, teardrop and hold in lieu. Explore or quick practice.
• Descent: descend to a fix, angle to ft/NM to V/S, top of descent, climb gradients, MDA/HAT and VDP.
• Failures: pitot, static, vacuum and electrical failures on a six-pack. Explore, or practice with a hidden failure and decide which instruments you cannot trust.
• Altimetry: setting errors, cold-weather correction, pressure and density altitude, QNH, QFE and standard, transition level.
Shared wind model
Set the wind once. It applies to Holding, VOR, ILS, DME arc, ADF/RMI, HSI and procedure turn.
Free and Pro
Holding is free. The other nine trainers and the wind model are unlocked by one Pro purchase. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. There are no ads and no account. You can restore your purchase on another device with the same store account.
Offline and private
Everything runs on your device and works offline. The app collects no data.
