About

Babel is a Hebrew flashcard app built around spaced repetition and an AI card builder, so the time you spend goes into learning rather than making cards. Build decks of vocabulary, sentences, and grammar rules, then review them on a schedule that adapts to how well you actually know each one. Every card is scheduled separately in each direction, so recognising a word and producing it are tracked as the different skills they are. BUILD CARDS WITHOUT THE BUSYWORK • Type a word and let the AI fill in the translation, transliteration, and an example sentence • Paste a block of Hebrew text and pull out the vocabulary worth learning • Take a photo of a page, sign, or menu and turn what's in it into cards • Generate fresh example sentences for any word you're working on PRACTISE OUT LOUD • Push-to-talk pronunciation practice with feedback on what you actually said • Live conversation mode for back-and-forth speaking • Natural text-to-speech on any card, so you always know how it should sound • Chat with an AI tutor when you want something explained SEE WHERE YOU ARE • Daily streak, review heatmap, and per-deck statistics • A clear count of what's due today and what you've mastered Hebrew is rendered right-to-left throughout, with nikud handled properly rather than clipped. Babel requires a free account and an internet connection. Your decks, cards, and review history sync to your account, so they're waiting for you on every launch. The AI features run on your own Google Gemini and ElevenLabs API keys, which you add in Settings — Babel doesn't resell AI credits, so you pay the provider directly for exactly what you use. Everything else, including spaced-repetition study, works without them.
