How do you play this game with no pets?

Looking @ the IAP aka in app purchases it seems like there is no pets to play with! Are there any pets for free? Otherwise it looks nice.

Surprisingly impressed!

Usually kid games on the App Store are pretty awful with the exceptions of Toca Boca and My Playhome. This is awesome though! I would like for a no-ads purchase to be made available though.
