FAQ
What is Backbeat's primary focus for drummers?
Backbeat focuses on drum rudiments and grooves, providing a structured approach to practice. It helps drummers develop their technique by transcribing their playing into real musical notation and offering a customizable metronome.
How does Backbeat help with learning rudiments?
Each rudiment in Backbeat comes with its sticking pattern and a target tempo. The app logs your sessions and tracks your current BPM, allowing you to see your progress over time and set goals for improvement.
Can Backbeat generate drum grooves?
Yes, Backbeat can generate drum grooves based on your descriptions of a desired feel. The app renders these descriptions into playable notation that you can then edit and save.
Does Backbeat offer practice routines?
Backbeat allows you to create automated practice routines by setting lengths and target tempos for different blocks. The metronome automatically adjusts, and each block is logged upon completion, keeping your focus on playing.
What kind of statistics does Backbeat provide?
Backbeat offers detailed statistics including sessions, minutes practiced, streaks, and a speed curve for each rudiment. This data shows your actual tempo held over time, providing concrete proof of improvement.
Can I export my drum charts from Backbeat?
Yes, you can build song charts measure by measure with repeats and counts within Backbeat. These charts can be exported as paginated PDFs or individual grooves can be shared as images for video content.
Is Backbeat suitable for use in dim lighting?
Backbeat is designed to be read from a stand in various conditions. It features a dark, high-contrast display that is large enough to follow easily, even in dim rooms, and it respects your phone's appearance settings.
Does Backbeat have ads?
No, Backbeat does not contain advertisements. It is a free application developed by a single drummer, focusing on providing a clean and uninterrupted practice experience.
