Poor customer support
I bought this game in May 2026 and discovered that it doesn’t seem possible to turn off the sound effects. They’re very annoying when other people are nearby. I asked Support for help on May 10. Again on May 20. Again on May 25. I never got one response!! Not impressed. If they can’t help, I want a refund.

The sound is completely gone. This was a great app for years. Too bad it’s been forgotten
Computer knows the roll
The number of times the computer doubles immediately before a roll that allows them to take your checkers is certainly not coincidence.

Too many doubles
This program is so predictable. Play in hard mode. As others have mentioned …. WAY Too many doubles. Unrealistic. We paid money for this game. Why is it programmed to cheat so openly? What is the point of putting games out to cheat? Probably would sell a lot more if done fairly. If checking the previews it is clear this is an ongoing issue for YEARS. FIX IT!
I have played from several hours at a time. Computer will almost always open, the 3rd to 5th play will usually be a large double and player will get stuck with repeat plays totaling less than 7 points 4/3, 6/1/, 5/2 whereas computer will consistently get 10’s, 11’s or doubles. It is PREDICTABLE. Even working around the cheating I am usually able to win…..except when bearing off and computer gets THREE doubles in a row. Worst case I saw was doubles used back to back 7 times between both players. Insanity. Yet I play because I paid….only slightly better than free version, but no ads.

Deleted this app because the game is fixed. No fun to play when the computer opponent always gets the exact rolls need to win and knock me off board
Dice not random
Like others who have reviewed the game, I have experienced the computer player somehow getting precisely the roll needed to knock me off the board a large percentage of the time as well as winning almost every opening roll, but worst of all is that once the game comes down to a race, the computer will roll double after double. These are often large doubles (5s or 6s). I just watch it win 3 games in a row where the computer player rolled at least 3 and in one case 5 large doubles in a row to win games where I had a fairly substantial leads. I wish the development team would use a random number generator to make the game fair.

That is, unless you constantly re-roll the dice. Optime: ask AI to write you a better algorithm, eh? 🙄🙄🙄

I purchased this game and regret it. In my opinion, the hard level not statistically reputable.
Reputable apps will often state “Powered by GNU Backgammon” or “Using the XG engine” in their info or settings menu.
Suggestion: Read the ‘about’ section to help you decide on a purchase. I’m deleting this app and looking elsewhere.

Dice rolls rigged
A fun game is the dice rolls weren’t rigged for the computer. Always seems to get out of a losing position with big doubles or perfect rolls. The computer can can multiple checkers exposed…but I can’t roll the right numbers to put them on the bar…but one exposed checker for is going to be removed and then covered with the perfect rolls. I even stopped playing with the doubling cube because it means the computer rolled something big (which I can’t see until I accept the double) and it’s game over.

Good value
Basic backgammon with doubling cube for one off low price. Plays a decent AI game on the hard level. Gambling strategy weak, though. It will double when it needs only one point to win and has allowed me to backgammon it when easily avoidable.
The dice rolls are fair and random despite what some reviewers always think.

I enjoy playing this game.
Broken in iOS 18
Unfortunately the behavior of the undo button has changed in iOS 18. For example if you roll a 6,1 and you want to use the “1” first, that is no longer possible. So basically it’s not backgammon anymore. Please fix this because I paid for this game and also because it’s one of the best ones available (or rather, it was)

This game frustrates me so much because the moves are clearly not randomised and are fixed in favour of the computer winning most games. So predictable. It takes the fun out of the game.
Fair
I have been playing backgammon for 50 years. I have never seen a person, or computor to roll double after double. Still, I suppose it might be possible in one game in 100,000.
Save your money. Find a real set up, and play there. This game will never hone your skills, only frustrate them
