Would be a good app if it worked!
Have been waiting for this to actually work for a week now. App crashes an restarts even with paid version.
Best backgammon available
This is my favorite of all backgammon games. The skill levels are perfect and I have greatly improved my game skills while having lots of fun. The only improvement I can think of would be increasing the customization options a bit. Highly recommend this game/app!!
Tutor?
I would expect an app that specifically says “tutor” in its name would teach how to play backgammon, but it doesn’t. No overview of the game or game play, and no explanation for why it suggests the moves that it does. It’s just an app for playing backgammon.
Cheating
Cheating is crazy when done by a computer.
The reviews are right.
I’ve tried both the balanced and the random and choices and in both, when you enter the end game, if you are winning, and see the computer roll doubles—start counting. Way too often the computer will roll three sets of doubles in a very short time. It’s way too often to be normal odds, so as much as the developer(s) trust their algorithm, something is up, so they should play it a bunch and see for themselves. I play on a website online too, far more than here, and that never happens. Also, the tutor often has you leave a piece open and then takes it, when there was a better move available without leaving one open. While the game may catch options you overlook, I feel the main tutoring being done here is learning when to know you shouldn’t listen to the computer. I gave it three stars though because it’s playable and serves its purpose when the annoying doubles thing isn’t happening

Tutor Element slightly lacking
I have no experience with Backgammon so expected more step by step instructions. However it is starting to make a little sense

Ridiculous
After two weeks of playing, opponents double count 26% compared to my 19%. Uninstalled.

Diced rigged for computer
Wouldn’t you think a game that is suppose to be a tutorial would at least give both sides the same chance? This game gives the computer the advantage…high number doubles, four times as many doubles as the player. It is so obviously rigged! OBVIOUSLY. please fix your game

Please take a look at the dice statistics on the Statistics page (found on the main menu) and you will see that over the long term they are very similar between the player and the computer.

Frustrating
This app needs a better dice roll algorithm
Good BUT caveat
The developer purposely leveraged the probability of good rolls of the dice for the computer such as doubles in the end game. They were called out on here in reviews a few times and as a result added an option to re-roll the dice for either you or the computer. Frankly IFF you just consider this a training game and don’t use the re-roll feature it’s a good training because the dice odds are against you. That is why I give it good marks as a training game. But why tip the odds in a two dice roll? That the question I would like an honest answer to. So 1 star until we get and answer.

Game is rigged
Game alway goes first on starting roll (20 starts game got higher number 19 times.) If you leave a piece uncovered computer almost always gets a hit unless you are in starting quadrant, mostly will leave you alone in starting quadrant. If computer leaves a piece uncovered it appears you have about realistic chance to hit it. Lower level of play rigged to teach player to avoid leaving uncovered piece at all cost.

Goo competitive game
Get rid of pick your dice roll option. Obvious when computer gets too far behind it switches to that option.

Roll again option is only used by the human players. The computer never rolls again.

Great but needs a few bug fixes
Pros: I love this game and I’m actually getting better at backgammon. I used to be a newb but now I recognize moves and learn from my mistakes. I like it that the piece does a dance/shake when you accidentally select an impossible spot. Cons: It’s annoying to have to hit confirm after the AI player has played. It would be nice to have an auto-roll option. Sometimes it’s hard to select the piece that you are aiming for. Also annoying to have to select the piece that has been “knocked out” when it’s the only one you can move - it should auto select if for you. When a match is over, if you selected an expert1 or expert2 AI opponent, it defaults back to advanced.
