About
Backo puts your Umbraco backoffice in your pocket. Open the content tree, edit a page, check what a change looks like, and publish it — from an iPhone on the platform or an iPad on the sofa. It works with your own Umbraco installation, version 15 or newer.
It talks to the stock Umbraco Management API on your own server. There is no package to install, no middleman service, and no account with us. Your content goes between your device and your server and nowhere else.
EDITING THAT MATCHES THE BACKOFFICE
• Every property editor you actually use: text, rich text, block lists, block grids, pickers, tags, dates, colours, sliders, toggles and raw JSON
• Tabs, groups and validation messages land where the backoffice puts them
• Drafts stay drafts — nothing goes live until you publish
PUBLISHING, PROPERLY
• Publish, unpublish, or schedule either for a date and time
• Publish with descendants, with progress while the server works through them
• Version history, with a rollback and a pin to stop Umbraco tidying a version away
• References are checked before you delete, so you know what will break
THE WHOLE TREE
• Move, copy and sort pages and media, including sorting a whole level
• Recycle bin for content and media, with restore
• Search the site, or filter inside one branch
• Public access: pick the member groups that may see a page
MEDIA
• Upload from the photo library, the files app or the share sheet
• Crops and focal points, edited by dragging
• See which pages use a file before you replace or delete it
BUILT FOR THE WAY YOU WORK
• Two-factor sign-in, API users, and external login providers (SSO)
• Multiple servers, switched from one menu
• Pages you open are kept on the device, so they can be read again offline
• Shortcuts and Siri: publish a page or find pages from a shortcut
• A share extension that sends a photo or a file straight to the media library
REQUIREMENTS
Backo needs an Umbraco installation running version 15 or newer — that is when the Management API gained the sign-in endpoints the app uses — and a backoffice account or API user to sign in with. It is a client, not a host: if you do not already run an Umbraco site, this app has nothing to connect to.
Backo is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Umbraco A/S.
