Backseat Crew

Backseat Crew finds family day trips along your car route through Europe. Enter where you start and where you are going, and the app shows what lies just a few minutes off the road: zoos, playgrounds, museums, lakes for swimming, castles, climbing parks and much more. HOW IT WORKS • Search start and destination, or simply tap the map • Choose the longest detour you are fine with, from 5 to 60 minutes • See every stop along the route, coloured by detour • Filter by type: quick stop, half day or full day, by category, or only with an EV charger nearby • Compare alternative routes and search along each of them FOR EVERY PLACE • Description, opening hours, family price and suitable age • Photos from the area, from Wikimedia Commons • Navigate with the stop as a waypoint, in Apple Maps or Google Maps • Share by message, WhatsApp or e-mail WITHOUT A ROUTE, TOO • Day trips near you or in the visible map area • EV chargers and Wikipedia places as extra map layers PLAYGROUNDS AND SWIMMING SPOTS • More than 160,000 playgrounds on a map of their own, with a Crew rating: the big ones first • Swimming spots and lidos with the EU water quality • Filter by water play, type and EV charger nearby • In the route planner, the big playgrounds along your way if you like, with the detour JOIN IN • Suggest places, report mistakes, confirm details • With an account: collect favourites and see them on all your devices. Sign in with Apple or by e-mail; you can delete the account in the app at any time. Backseat Crew has no ads and does no tracking. The places are curated by hand and added to all the time, for Germany and large parts of Europe: Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Benelux countries, Denmark, Poland and the Czech Republic. Plus our games for the back seat, offline too. Place descriptions are in German for now; the app itself follows your device language.
