This app absolutely does the trick. It is exactly what I needed. I agree the interface could be cleaner, but that’s being fussy. It is perfectly usable and it does what it says it does and it is so much cheaper than other options. It is so useful being able to get backing tracks onto an iPad without going through the hell of iTunes synching.

What in the world were you thinking changing this app to where it is unrecognizable? I concur with other reviews that say you ruined this. You can’t do live performances with this junk. My advice change it back to how it was or at least make the old version available because this app now is a joke. I want my money back.

TERRIBLE
As a user if backtrax classic, this new “improved “ version is absolutely horrible to use. Coassic version was easy to navigate and operate. This version is just rubbish to use.
Good update over Classic
I’ve been using BackTrax for a long while and was waiting for it to be refreshed as it was getting tired and only worked on older iPads. The new one is a lot better. I read a review that was critical of it and said it didn’t stop after playing each song to allow talking to audience. Well it does stop unless you tick the continuous play button. Haven’t used it live as yet but all good so far

Why change?
Old version is far superior to this one. I’ve given up on it and moved to StageTrax as I can’t download the older version which is preferable. Why is the screen white? I don’t want to have to keep going into my setting to change it. Black screen is much more sensible and user friendly. Friends too are saying exactly the same thing. Absolutely loved the older version. This one is just too messy. At least offer a choice. Maybe ask entertainers what they want before deciding?

They ruined it
What did they do to this app? It’s so complicated and just makes no sense. The old version was simple easy and smoothe. This is terrible now. $15 wasted.

Not mobile friendly for when on the go, user journey is difficult and not easy to use have had to delete

The old version was brilliant this is just completely stupid, and very very difficult. Still not found one single person that understands it !!!

I’ve used the old version of this very happily for many years. I now have a new iPad and the old version is no longer compatible.
But very disappointed that one of the options has been removed in the new version!
Why oh why is the button to stop continuous play no longer there!
As a pro singer I need the track to stop while I chat or choose the next song in my playlist!

App doesn’t work
This app isn’t working!! It just hangs when trying to download songs from Dropbox, just an empty screen most of the time. Sometimes it connects to cloud services but that’s rare

Not even one star worthy
Had Backtax before but just got a new iPad where the current version I have been using isn’t compatible so had to down load this new version looks alright in the pictures however fails to say that you can not download your iOS song onto it I have now lost all my tracks and having to re download everything!

Don’t do it
Man did they mess up this app. It use to be very simple to use, no longer. If it ain’t broke, fix it until it is.
Great product
I’ve been using this for a couple of years now and found it invaluable for practice and live work. The user interface is really clear and I can view the chords/lyrics when playing tracks. The lyric auto-scrolling facility is good but it often isn’t always to track the music accurately if there’s blank lines or repeats in a tab - would be brilliant if I was able to manually scroll/realign the auto scroll positioning whilst playing, when it gets out of sync with the music.
I’ve had a couple of minor issues but the developer, Ryan, has been really responsive - one just needed his advice, the other resulted in a fix within 48 hours. Brilliant service and product.

Do not buy this CONVOLUTED difficult to use product.
Original BACKTRAX was simply superb.
This current $23 monstrosity is as self explanatory as navigating the moon at night with your eyes closed.
Nothing makes sense, nothing is explained - unrecognisable icons do not organise, setup or in any way encourage using the app to play and stop a song.
It truly is a disgrace.

Fantastic App
Fantastic app for live singing. Used the classic version previously but just upgraded to this. It does everything I could want as a singer. I was sceptical if I could do away with paper lyrics and go digital but am now a complete convert and environmentally friendly too. It’s one of those apps that’s clearly been designed by a user. Whoever designed this clearly understands a live singer’s requirements. Thank you and please keep the updates coming.

Not real useful
Added a bunch of stuff that is not really useful for live application for me. Some users may find it appealing. The classic works better for me. I feel I wasted 15 bucks. On the other hand, I paid a buck for the classic way back in the day, and it has more than paid for itself. This new app format reminds me of others I have wasted money on. Nice try though. Keep the classic alive PLEASE!!!

Sorry you feel that way. For what it's worth, pretty much everything that has been added was specifically requested by users of BackTrax Classic, and much of it was not possible without significant workflow changes. This is one of the reasons it's a whole new product; to not force all BackTrax Classic users into the new interface and workflow.
