Awful app. Will not stay connected to baha 5.
Contacted cochlear and went through setup
process. Worked for a couple of days. Still reseting almost daily. Useless.

Doesn’t work

I have to delete and reinstall daily on my iPhone SE because one or both of my processors are not recognized. The underlying Apple app works.

Please update this

We can usually mirror our phone to make our baha 5 connect to our Apple Watch but this new apple update doesn’t allow that. So your app must be very out of date. Says 1 year ago on our page. Please update it so we can control our baha on the watch again

Response to developers
That has nothing to do with it. The app needs to be changed to allow use on the watch. It used to be the apple updated and now it’s now.

feedback

1. thank God, got rid of the app. i work directly with my iphone... had my bahas (2) for 3 years!!! 😡still getting feedback from my left baha ... resorted to wearing my old hearing aid in my left ear and hear from both NO feedback! NO adjusting the volume is NOT the problem... even if i take it OFF my head (magnet) it buzzes! i’m DONE returning it and still not corrected! when i need to i’ll buy a new hearing aid! unless YOU can email me and tell me how to fix it i will be grateful! (turning on or off data does not help ). thanks

App needs to update

I’ve had my BAHA 5 for almost 2 years now. I was really excited for the concept of Bluetooth to my phone! However, it doesn’t always connect or has trouble. And since this is the only way to control my hearing aid, I really depend on it working. I hold off doing main iPhone updates when they’re first released. This latest update, I am having more problems with it pairing with my BAHA. I’ve been having to restart my phone just to get it to connect and adjust it.
If you’re going to have it controlled only by the phone, there needs to be more updates.

I agree with MommyAnn

I have had a BAHA since Baha 3 and I have had BAHA 5 since it came out. I consider myself a power user of tech so I was so happy when Made for IPhone features were released. I know ReSound contracted to build the accessories and Resound has a watch app to control volume etc but not Cochlear? I also wish I could do more fine tuning of the device to reduce screeching. I have had my device reprogrammed and that helped. However, I have trouble getting volume loud enough in restaurants.

Needs Update

I have iPhone XS and so I’m wondering if this app is not updated to allow all the features it says it does. For example, when I listen to music via Bluetooth, the app shows I am streaming but will not allow me to adjust bass or treble. In fact, it freezes when I attempt to click on the iPhone icon to make my own custom settings. I have tried to delete and redone load this app and nothing improved. A lot of the features shown on the tutorials are not available to me. Please tell me this is going to be fixed!

A slightly useful App...

For myself, with Single Sided Deafness, this App, and the Baha 5 itself, only falls under “Slightly Better than Nothing.” Having lost my original Baha 5 (and it’s refurb replacement from Cochlear), my audiologist wanted $300 to set up the Baha 5 that I found on eBay. I had to pass on that, as there’s no noticeable difference between a Baha 5 that’s been ‘set-up’ and one that hasn’t. The _only_ time it’s noticeable that you are even using a Baha 5 is when you are also using the Mini Mic, if you’ve set _it_on max volume. That is still nowhere near having a working ear, but is slightly better than being deaf. Most of the time, this whole set-up is not even worth bothering with. I average once a week.
The abutment used for the Baha 5 _used_ to be compatible with the Oticon bone anchored hearing aids, that offer a fuller spectrum of sound, but Cochlear sued them so that it would no longer be compatible. So the sound you’re able to get now from the Cochlear Baha is like what you’d expect from a microphone at the end of 40 ft. of 4” PVC pipe: distant & tinny sounding.
If you’re newly diagnosed, don’t just take your otologist/audiologist’s recommendation that you get a Cochlear implant. Request an Oticon abutment, and you’ll still have a choice. I wish I had known this.

Limited Functionality, Poor Execution

I have had my BAHA 5 for about three months. I am still learning to use the app to control the settings on the sound processor. I have found the app’s features to be very limited and it doesn’t allow the user very much freedom to adjust the settings, other than the volume and the treble/bass (limited adjustability). There seems to be no way to eliminate or compensate for feedback and screeching. Additionally, there is no functionality for the Apple Watch.
Overall, the app has good potential which is grounded in good ideas, but the execution is very, very poor.
Unfortunately, there are no other options, so we are forced to “live with it”.

Great sound when connected

I have had my cochlear now for over 2 years and through several updates to this application. One continuing problem is lack of connectivity. I am totally deaf without this application and I have to constantly log out and in to reconnect. My wi-fi and internet are not the issue as this happens no matter where I am at. Can someone please look at this issue

Does not work anymore. [updated]

For some reason, BAHA app will not discover or connect with the device. I’ve wiped my iPhone, deleted the app, reinstalled a number of times. Trying to discover never times out anymore just tries forever. I don’t even have the app on my iPad but it can connect and allows me to stream the TV. I can’t talk over my iPhone. Kind of defeats the purpose.

[updated] Found my iPad Pro, no app, was grabbing control of the BAHA, due to accessibility settings. I turned off the hearing aid accessibility on the iPad and voila, no more problems!

Saving preference settings

I am very frustrated with this app. I am trying to adjust the treble all the way down in Programs 2 and 3 but it seems that there is no way to save it. I sing in a large chorus and the sound gets very distorted on high notes sung in forte (loud). I can hardly hear myself. The sound processor can’t handle it. And if I turn the volume way down with the app I can’t hear the singers around me well enough. I didn’t have this problem with the in-the-ear hearing aid but it gave me infections and the recurrence of cholesteatoma.
So my question is, how can I save the treble settings? The check mark at the top doesn’t save it. The instructional video for the Baha shows the app as having a Preference bar to press and a Save button on the treble/bass page. Any help would be much appreciated. My audiologist advised me to check these reviews for help. She is not able to do the treble setting for me on her computer.
Other than adjusting the treble, has anyone had experience with the Baha and distortion with music? There must be a way to eliminate this problem.

Apple update won’t let me connect to my phone

Do we have a date on when the latest Apple update will be fixed? I really miss being able to control my Baha with my phone. I can’t control it with the actual device so I have to keep just taking the battery out when I need quiet. I also miss being able to listen to music on my iPod! I got this brand because it suppose to work really well with Apple products but since the iOS 11.1 update I haven’t been able to connect my Baha to my phone. I hope there will be a fix soon.

I did call almost a month ago and they told me that they were aware of the issue and working on a fix which is why I asked when it would be fixed.

Great BAHA app but new change on apple iPod

I’ve had this app for 11 months with my newer BAHA & it worked beautifully on my iPod Touch & I absolutely loved it! I could turn on my tv streamer & still do things on here while listening to the tv. However with the latest Apple update to version 11.1.2. The control center feature was changed & I can no longer control the hearing feature like I used to & it is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING! I don’t know if this is a BAHA app problem or an apple update problem. But I can’t seem to get to apple support for this.

Pretty much never works with new iPhone

I really wish Cochlear put a manual volume control on the BAHA. I upgraded to a new iPhone a few months ago and have tried hundreds of times to pair my phone with my BAHA and was only successful once. Then, one day the two magically paired, for about 2 days!! Sadly, the pairing disappeared for no reason I can ascertain, and every attempt I've made to pair have been unsuccessful since. Really annoying because I'm in meetings a lot and it would make my work so much easier if I could adjust my volume. It's to the point where I'm thinking of trying to find an old iPhone to get the pairing function back. I tried working with Cochlear, they state this is a known problem and they have no solution. 🙁
