Rouge-Lite Perfection

It’s a masterpiece! An instant classic that will be installed on my devices for a long long time. Hours of mixing, matching and finding combo’s to grind higher stakes or high scores. The most worth $10 game I’ve ever bought, hands down.

Fun, unbalanced game for casual players. Enraging, grindfest, nightmare for completionists.

Your skill in this game, as an average person, will be subject to completely random spikes in difficulty or RNG deciding whether you win or lose. Synergies and strategies will be tossed aside due to oppressive boss ablities, artificial scaling, and again. Pure, unfettered, RNG. Excessive amounts of grinding required to 100%. This is a nightmare game for completionists and I personally, can tell you i have just 100%ed this game on PC, and it is not worth the time sink. Realistically, you experience / unlock most of the game’s content after about 10-20 hours of play. after that its just nonsensically difficult and unfair challenges, many of whom are purely luck centric. 90% of losses feel un-earned which is made all the worse when you spend up to almost 30-40 minutes per run, constantly deliberating upon what to do and how to adapt to the jokers and boosters you are offered. this becomes incredibly exhausting after about 40 hours. so is balatro worth the price? i guess, if you are talking purely about the cost equivalent of time to experience the bulk of the game’s content, which would be roughly ¢0.32/hr, and closer to ¢0.05/hr at max completion. is it a good game? and well designed? i would have to say no. the aesthetics are appealing, and somewhat interesting to look at, but the primary gameplay loop, is ultimately looking for synergies without relying on external builds or community philosophy on how to progress / perfect the game, and then losing a 30 minute run at the very end for reasons beyond your control. if i can’t figure out an optimal strategy without needing to look up a build or find hidden random synergies (which the game does NOTHING to tutorialize you on, by the way), then that’s the game’s fault, and not mine. like many poorly designed roguelikes, it relies on player trial and error, which results in an artifical time sink which is not gratifying or cathartic whatsoever because upon reaching 100% completion… the game does… nothing. after grinding for ALL of the challenges, stickers, etc. You just get a trophy the game doesn’t even give you a special message, or ending credits, or anything. you just get bragging rights to tell your friends you wasted 150+ hours of your life on digital poker. so frustrating.

The Whole Family Loves

My buddy showed me this game. Looked a little rough in terms of graphic but he swore by it. So I tried it and instantly was drawn in by the fun and challenge. Few days later went to my family and suggested we play it as a group (on Xbox). They complained at first because the graphics, but 4 hours of straight playing later we were all cheering for our “two pairs” when they landed. I’ve sunk a good 400+ hours into it now. Best game ever like this.

Another flappy bird

This game is another low effort game. I am shocked that it has so many 5 star reviews considering how simple it is

The gameplay is solid and fun. Perfect for bus rides n stuff.

If you’re curious, just try it

Best mobile game I’ve ever spent money on.

Good fun

Can’t put this sucker down, thanks.

too hard to see, cloud save is missing or broken.

They just ported the pc version and scaled down the display. SO MANY things are nearly impossible to read, even with all the fx turned off. Plz update to make it usable on a phone screen!

EDIT: also, the support site says there is a slider in settings to turn on iCloud Sync-- I can't find this anywhere, and saves do NOT sync between iOS devices, so I can't even play on my iPad. Very frustrating.

Cloud Saves

Why on earth would this require cloud saves? I’d give it a solid 5 but I bought this game so I could play it anywhere. Bad bad UX.

God awful experience

App refuses to load cloud save and so I can do NOTHING. Marvelous app.
