Poor starting impression
I just downloaded and purchased this app and. Ow that I’m in I can’t even setup a kid. It keep crashing on me. My iPhone is updated and they claim it should work with my iOS. Pretty disappointed in a paid app.
Missing Basic Functionality
I’ve been using the app for a few years. It is shocking to me that I still cannot edit past transactions. If you do a typo or put in the wrong amount, that’s just too bad - it is there to stay. You cannot edit it (despite what the tutorial says). Such basic functionality should be a no-brainer and can be really frustrating.

This is the best app for allowances and keeping track of spending
My husband and I downloaded this app two years ago as a way to keep track of our kids’ allowances and spending in a way that wasn’t in our head. Now at time of purchase, we hand our kids our phone and they take off the amount they spent. They can check at any time how much money they have in their account, and it stops us from having to do the calculations for them.
They can also see their spending and anytime they receive money from relatives, we can add it to their account (note-the all doesn’t connect to an actual bank, it’s totally virtual) and then we can actually pocket the cash. Paying for purchases with credit cards is no longer a hassle and the kids don’t have to remember to bring their money with them or pay us their actual money (including change) when we get home. It’s easy and convenient and really has taught the kids to save. Now anytime they want something, they just check their Bankaroo and see if they can afford it. No more whining for things!!
Furthermore, we can have automatic deposits and withdrawals each week for allowances and for regular reductions if they are paying for a large item over time.

Good but has issues
Could be a lot better if it would work. Half of the time when I open the app, all that comes up is a white screen with zero function.
I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled, I’ve closed other apps, I’ve restarted…. Nothing works and it pretty frustrating. It does this on three different iPhones so it’s not just my device.

School account just opens a browser
We are trying to implement this for our ES Special Ed program. When I login to our school admin account it just opens safari browser. Why even have an app?
Don’t pay for in app upgrade
This was almost what we were looking for but needed the added saving and giving categories so paid the 4.99 for the upgraded version and NOTHING. It doesn’t upgrade or update but they got their money. Look at elsewhere and save your money.
Poor customer service
I love the idea of this app and site. In fact, it was everything I was looking for to use with a student in a school setting. I loved that staff can add money, they can set goals for the student to then choose where to save the money, and the “idea” that multiple staff could share a student or contribute. However, adding staff has proven very difficult. Even with making different accounts using different emails to test it has proven very difficult. Furthermore, if someone already has an existing account it appears you can’t add them to the student. When reaching out to customer service, I have received zero communication in response. I really wanted this app/site to work, however It looks as if I will be moving on from Bankaroo.

Dating a transaction
Please add the feature to set the date of a transaction manually. This is important in the -funds case when one in entering a transaction a few days after the date when the transaction really occurred. This is important in teaching kids to properly keep records. In case of my 10 year old she’s understandably not yet that on the ball about her bank account and she sometimes forgets to -funds on the day she spends her money.
This will have implications for interest rate calculations but I’m sue you guys know exactly what to do. Thanks in advance!

Can you please add some notifications to it. The app is amazing and helpful but for the goal it doesn’t automatically add to the goal. And I don’t remember, that’s all I ask!

I don’t understand why it just brings me to the website when I login. I don’t want the mobile website, I want an app interface.

Good idea, but over complicated and ultimately went offline and stopped working for us altogether and we can’t fix or change any numbers.

This app is exactly what I needed. A pretty unique use case, but glad I found it!!
Can’t Delete Allowance Setting
I really wanted to give this 5 stars, but I am so frustrated with the allowance function. I can’t turn it off. I set it to give my kid a weekly allowance, but on weeks where she doesn’t do her chores, I have to remove the allowance. But there is no way for me to turn off this allowance function. I’ve tried setting it to zero and that doesn’t work. Very frustrating. My only option is to go into her account after the allowance is added and do a “- funds”.

Great way to keep track of my kids $
I was looking for something more sophisticated than a running log to keep track of the money I’m holding for my children. Bankaroo is perfect. No more trying to remember if I paid them back or if they have enough money to buy something they want.

I’ve been using Bankaroo for years now to keep track of how much my kids have in the Bank of Mom. (Way easier seeing something they want to buy and having them try to remember how much money they have at home.). I initially used it because it was free and functional, although there were a few quirks I wasn’t fond of.
But the latest update has made this app really fantastic. The account screen is so much easier to navigate and there are a lot of new features, like accounts being able to go into the negative (optional) and setting little pictures for transactions. And it is still free! Hard to beat that!

Best Kids Money Management App!
I have been using bankaroo as a money management tool for my kids allowance and my kids savings for a while now, and I enjoy it thoroughly. My kids, 7 and 11, are learning how to plan a budget, save up for goals and manage their money. No more "mommy, buy me this - mommy buy me that". They understand what prices mean and check bankaroo to see if they have enough allowance or chore money to buy what they want to, and they prioritize and trade off if they need to. One of the more valuable features of bankaroo is the kids saving goals - if they want something that is too expensive, they can set aside allowance money or chore money periodically, until the ready their saving goal. What a marvel!

Great app for helping your kids learn about money
I've been using Bankaroo since its launch as a web app and I'm so excited to see it now is available on my iPhone. My 8 years old daughter totally loves it too and uses it often. Bankaroo helped us teach our kids that things cost money and that they should make smart choices an trade offs. This is a great app!
