IF YOU UNINSTALL the app, then later reinstall the app, PURCHASE is required just to contact the developer.
I recently reinstalled my iPadOS, trying to reinstall an early version 18.6; without success. I am now back on
iPadOS 26.2.1.
I’ve noticed a strange situation happening ever since smart BASIC was installed, whereas if I try to launch a video, smart BASIC launches instead.
My workaround, select and hold the video I wish to watch, and select Quick Look.
In an effort to resolve the issue, I have uninstalled the app from my iPad Pro. It turns out that smart BASIC somehow interferes with the launching of an external video and tries to launch itself.
My apps now run properly, all my videos play perfectly.
I now wish to reinstall the app, and if you contact me, I will supply a copy of the receipt of my purchase if you don’t have it.

Basic
I was first introduced to Basic programming in the 60s while working for NASA. Then progressed to more sophisticated programs. Then retired. Then found basic and picked up where I left off 30 years ago. I use it almost every day managing fuel burn in my antique Piper Cub and other every day curiosities that an old retired engineer loves to tinker with. I also have an HP RPN calculator app to remind me of yesterday.
I love my Basic app and easily reward with FIVE giant stars for anyone that can’t afford a $20,000 seat on ProEngineer.

Best BASIC ever!
I have been writing BASIC programs since the days it required line numbers. With the development of advanced versions such as Smart BASIC, with its graphic features, like buttons, switches, sliders, and access to the compass and accelerometer, it should no longer be called a “beginners” language. “Hobbyist” language would be more appropriate, since it is still easy for beginners to learn the fundamentals of programming. Its set of Graphics and Sound commands makes it ideal for games and simulations.
There’s only one small inconvenience: commands such as OPTION.... , SET.... etc appear in several categories of the otherwise excellent Help file, sometimes making it difficult to find the one you’re looking for. Some sort of Search or Indexing would be valuable.
Overall, in spite of a few syntax quirks [like using “!” as a line separator, and “INTEG()” instead of “INT()”], it’s the best BASIC program I have found.

No support
Sad that this is such a good app but no way to contact support. For such a feature rich language the manual is badly lacking depth. Their are some examples but but not enough and no way to see how things are work. The very basics of the manual are there… but this is such a great app that there should be a great manual. You can not even search the manual for keywords.
The WORST part is… you can NOT log into the forum to post a question. I have tried with two different email addresses — waiting all day long for the registration email but not came to my in box or spam folder. There is also no way to contact the developer.
I see there are some decent apps made with Smart Basic so there are people out there who learned enough about it to get it to do what they need… but they sure did not get that info from the English manual.
I saw someone in the forum offer to make a new one… but there is no way to find out if he actually did after his commitment to do so in 2017.
I hope the developer reads this and gives access to registering on the forum. I would then be able to give this 5 stars. For now, it is a waste of time trying to get the information I need.

As of April 2024 app works perfectly!
I recently got this app because my grandpa taught me how to code in BASIC when I was a child and I wanted to relearn it. I knew I wanted good documentation to support my learning. I was worried because some of the other reviews talked about the documentation not working but I had no trouble. I have had a lot of success writing programs and the examples in the app are very helpful too. I'd recommend this to anyone that wants to code in BASIC on the go. The compiler can handle a surprising amount and runs very smoothly!

Ideal for mini apps
I wrote a couple of useful utilities using this language app. One to calculate miles per gallon when you enter litres and miles travelled. This BASIC app is a must have for me.
No support
All my attempts to register and access support and forum have failed (and yes, I did check the spam folder for an email). If that can be fixed, then I’ll give this app five stars.
Great program, but forum and support not accessible
When I try to register, I don’t get back the activation email. If this gets fixed I’ll be glad to give this app five stars.

The app itself is very good and I have been able to write some very useful programs using it.
However I have been unable to get any support - I have tried many times to login to the support forum without success.
In addition there was an earlier version of this app which stopped working - the developer decided to rewrite the app but that meant that I had to buy the app again and I lost all the programs that I had written

Nice but…
Very nice app for an old man like me who use to program in Basic back in the day. However the support forums don’t exist anymore. I wish I could get a refund or partial refund. I was hoping to use the forums. I wish I knew this before I purchased it.

Just updated phone to an 11 and unfortunately original not available.
Just found the updated version here and just made my day!!
I constantly used SmartBasic (Original) for all my concepts due to being extremely fast.

Disappointing behaviour

For no apparent reason … any HTML file that I try to open from my iPad ‘Files’ folder launches Smart Basic instead of a browser window.
I have been obliged to delete the App so that ‘normal service’ is resumed.
If there is a fix for this … Please let me know !

I do appreciate that it is ‘too late’ for you to change the function of INT, but I remain disappointed and frustrated by the need to re-write old BASIC programs to use INTEG instead. I am truly astonished and delighted by what can be done with this App, and thank you for developing it ... but it would have been nice to see full backward compatibility with BASIC . [my original review] I received notification that this App would be replacing “smart BASIC” Not yet tested, but he gets Five stars for that !! .... I am, however, disappointed to find that the INT function still does not comply with the original ‘Dartmouth BASIC’ definition. [quote] Ten numeric functions were provided. nicht ganz ohne Programmierkenntnisse daher kommt kann jeder schnell tolle Programme schreiben....
.....da zahle ich gern 12€....
