Great but…
It would be nice to have a least two normal sounding drum kits…I mean I get that its groundbreaking as far as sound designing and synthetic drums….but a few basic bread and butter patches would be helpful……
And there should be a way to make other alternative variation sequences NOT just one sequence that shifts and changes randomly ………also they put the randomize dice button way too close to the browse buttons

Absolutely Astounding! Please fix the UI ratio for iPhone.
The sounds this thing can make are unlike any other drum synth! Worth every penny! Please make a physical unit one day! It’d be the physical drum machine from my dreams! I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
Please please change the UI scale on iPhone Pro max and make use of the large screen. When it’s in a smaller window ratio, it’s harder than it needs to be to tweak parameters.

Never heard something like this app
I am a hardware modular junkie! Today i bought this app cuz i heard a friend paying life with it couple of days ago. This the best sounding drum device i've ever heard. Absolutely mind blowing. Shout out to the developer/s!
Lots of potential.
Lots of potential.
near sounds, incomplete UI for the port
i really love the sound design but the UI isn’t optimized for touch and is missing critical controls needed from the lack of keyboard shortcuts and right click mouse.
Great!
One of the best drum machine on iPad, if not THE best.
I love the swing/shuffle per track, the possibility to have negative swing/shuffle (it's so rare to find this feature), and also the possibility to micro shift an instrument track back or ahead in time. Which makes it better than Drum Computer. Battalion sounds super analog. I'm in love with it.

Endless Fun
An amazing drum synth and sampler with a great sequencer. The deep modulation controls and the perform page make Battalion super fun to just play around with, and you can go really deep into sound design. It comes stocked with lots of presets and samples and it’s easy to create your own as well… plus the randomization is top notch.

Best software drum machine on any system
The apps UA releases are all top notch and this one is no exception. It’s a stunning drum machine, allowing you to combine a drum synth engine with a sample for each of the 8 channels. It’s got a sequencer, pattern creator, FX per layer and global LFOs, randomization options, EQs, filters. Everything in a MIDI mappable , easy to use UI. Worth it even if it’s not on sale.

Perfect Idm tool
Allows for randomising a timbre of the drum sounds leading to producing inspiring drum patterns (reminds me of autechre).
An idea for future updates: enable folders for user samples , otherwise I have just endless list of those.

One step away from perfection
This is the best drum synth on iOS without a doubt. The sequencer is fantastic as well, but the drum creation aspect is on a whole different level. So many options from top to bottom to create the exact sound you are looking for. My only complaint, and a pretty glaring one for an app designed to make new one shots, is the ability to export the one shot audio directly from the app. I should be able to export each individual sound from the 8 different slots directly from Battalion into a folder, instead of using Logic Pro as an extra step. I checked the manual and saw no way to do so, which is a shame. Fix this issue and I give this app 5 stars.

Maybe for 20
This is a really incredible drum machine, but it lacks some very basic things like multiple patterns or midi and audio controls. I want hand if I use his groove box it’s so limited that I’m not sure how I’m expected to perform. Am I switching between patterns while I’m performing live? How is this use case meant to be set up? And if I’m using this in another program as a drum machine it’s used for one shots and the pattern function isn’t use and it’s randomizing functions and probabilities aren’t used so what is worth $40 here? Bottom one is that for this cost I would expect that the randomization feature would at least have some common sense algorithms built-in to guide the randomization to some beat like sounds that actually are useful computer by sugar bites has all of the exact same features for less than this costs, and when the randomizes it keeps in mind that something should be a kick drum or a snare drum so that the basic dynamics of a beat are retained Things to keep in mind for future revisions boys?

Very limited actual usability 👎🏼
Yes, it’s the new hotness. Yes, it offers a lot in terms of sound design. But you get ONE sequence/pattern per sound kit/preset 😶 I have no idea how anyone thinks this is acceptable. Just, like, zero utility unless you want to play one pattern all day.
Presumably we can trigger it from something like Octachron, but sequence parameters, like velocity, are not available via MIDI 😡 Every sequence parameter for each voice should be exposed to CC control! Unbelievable that this is not implemented. And this is true of iOS and VST versions!
Manual does not explain the parameters unique to each sampler engine 😒
Was hoping to be able to use it in an improvisational context but one pattern and complete lack of MIDI implementation are dealbreakers. Looks like I’ll be sticking with Hammerhead for usability and providing multiple patterns for a kit.

My favourite
I have this on Mac, and wished for it to be ported like some other UA products and was so happy when it came out! I have plenty other drum machines on iPad but keep coming to Battalion as it just has this magic vibe to it, a sweet spot between versatility and workflow which I love about it. Well done and looking forwards for more Unfiltered Audio innovations.

Did I really need another IOS drum machine?
Considering how deep , fun and easy this is , yes. Like the other fellow mentioned in his review , Ranks at the top with apologies to Patterning and Drum Computer. I wonder if the developer could allow the user to create numerous user preset folders/or sub-folders as my user presets folder has grown considerably in less than a week of purchasing it . I could see it rapidly getting out of hand.

If Aphex Twin was a plugin
Unfiltered Audio has consistently pushed the proverbial envelope of what’s possible within their varied plugins.
The developers seem to have a type of chemistry any team should envy. They always craft tools that walk a very narrow line between balanced, yet deeply creative, while being wholly uniquely designed, and yet somehow being easily executable to anyone picking up these creative tools they’ve released, whether it be a hobbyist, or a professional. To strike that balance is a feat in and of itself.
Battalion exemplifies these qualities of Unfiltered Audio’s approach to plugin development by showcasing, even highlighting, their abilities to create something that’s seemingly one of a kind. Anyone willing to dive into this deep, yet somehow approachable, drum machine, should feel rewarded creatively.
At its core, it’s drum machine, sure, but completely capable as acting as a groove box/sampler as lfo’s and envelops are housed within each voice this app offers. All the while the app also has one of the most creative sequencers I’ve ever used, that I don’t believe I’ve seen elsewhere. Almost as if UA added a fresh take on tried and true euclidian sequencing to showcase how willingly they are to be eccentric in a niche often lacking originality.
This has very quickly become a tool I reach for that I can admit is indispensable for when I’ve wanted to craft, or even just explore, sonically diverse sounds, while keeping rhythms inherent musicality at its core.
Even the insanely deep randomization engines throughout the apps several pages are often surprisingly musical before tweaking any parameters.
Well worth the cost of admission, an absolute mad-lass for sound design, somehow always inspiring, often surprisingly so.
A masterpiece- truly one of a kind.
PS - Does anyone know how to get a hold of Richard James? & if so, can you ask them if they’ve gotten a hold of this yet? 😵💫🤘🏽🙏🏽🔥👁️🗨️

Must have!
This guys thought of almost everything the fact that lfos can driven at audio rate is crazy… pitch mapping and per sound eq would take this to the next level. The performance and sequencer pages are just next level. A really well throughout app that I hope gets regular updates please developers don’t let this one go!

Best electronic drum machine ever made
Im not really sure where to start but this drum machine is the best I’ve ever seen or heard for iOS, iPad, macOS, and all platforms. That’s all I have to say about that. It has endless variations, modulations, permutations, and non traditional elements. There is no doubt about it, if you are looking for the best electronic drum machine, AUv3, or plug in, this is the one you’ve been waiting for. What Klevgrand One Shot! did for acoustic drums (auv3) for iPad, Unfiltered Audio did the same for electronic/synth drums on iPad. Thank you TrickyFlemming !

Yet another mobile groove box
Yes, it is another drum machine and groove box, but it is a great one. It rises in a single stride to the first rank of examples of the type. Battalion accomplishes this with a flavor all its own, with, for example, precise, type-friendly controls: double-tap a parameter to enter a desired value, when you know what you want, without fiddling with touch-screen GUI thingies, speeding the workflow for various program functions. The merging of synth and sample sound sources has been done in other apps, but not in this way, with these options. Modulation options are ample and easy. Sequencing is layered and potent. There is plenty going on without overwhelming a somewhat prepared or maybe - imagine - a manual-familiar user.
For someone with favored rhythm/groove options already on this platform, as I am, this one still stands out as a characterful fun alternative that might even steal some quality time from even loyal users of other apps. It is not a problem - you can work with more than one drum machine. Do not deprive yourself of this lovely and sometimes edgy option.
So when will we see Lion or other as-yet unmobilized but would-be must-buy tools from our friends at UF? For those of us who do not get enough time with our desktop/laptop set-ups, these mobile-platform releases are so very helpful. More, please.

Battalion is a destroyer
I’ve got a slight addiction to iOS drum synth apps and can confidently say this is probably now the best one available (with apologies to Patterning and Drumcomputer).
Sounds great, feels great, tons of depth while allowing for immediate happy accidents. The synth engines are various and flexible, the sequencer is fast and has lots of per-step tweakability, and modulating with the LFOs/envelopes is super easy. (My one gripe - it can be difficult to tell at a glance which parameters are being modulated, and by how much, while in the assignment screen. Maybe an additional highlight color would help?)
The included samples are unique and play very nicely with the synth engines. My GAS for a Syntakt and Analog Rytm have been (temporarily) quelled by Battalion. Worth it at full price, a must-have at a discount. Oh and the themes/palettes are lovely. Highly recommended!
