Great game and potential

This is the definition of home grown! Love this concept and the previous game.

!!!Help!!! The game characters seize up on lvls where you breakout characters and have a full contingent. Everybody on screen is locked in place!

Thank you again for working on great games for true gamers.

Hello there, thanks a lot for your feedback and my apologies for the late reply! I have been working hard on a large patch to fix the issues you reported and a lot more. I am so happy to read you like the game's potential and its older brother, Herodom, as well! Soon I will release the new version.I hope it will fix the issues you encountered and that you will like to play it once again. Many thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!

Buggy mess

Half the formation selection buttons dont work. Troops wont move to where i want them to. Some troops stuck running in place. Troops break formation at any sight of enemy. Battles are impossible to win most of with the current buggy state of the game. Im on the latest version of ios on 16pro.

Lots of potential but unnecessary friction

Looking at your responses to other critical reviews, I understand micro is an essential part to this game, but I feel there is a kernel of truth. The controls feel vastly insufficient to make that micro feel anything but tedious and unfulfilling.

Now do not get me wrong in the slightest, I do not think your game concept is bad. I as a game dev myself (albeit an amateur), find this super impressive, but as a game dev to another my understanding is giving the most direct feedback tends to be more helpful vague praise. To summarize, I believe players have with the “micro” are due to the ui and controls and I will list all of that below.

Unit controls :

Units tendency to run out of formation tends to ruin any strategy you have in mind, unless you constantly switch between them. Despite clearly breaking the box formation you tell them to stay in, our lightly armored archers will not stay in the back like you tell them to, but charge ahead of your heavily armored spearmen.

Ui controls :

Rather than having cosmetics separated from equipment, they’re located in the same paging menu that you must spam tap to get through rather than opening a menu and tapping what we want directly. There is no option for presets. So if you want your guys to be anything other than buck naked archer and to look like anything other than bald black women (this is the default option when you want to create a new unit type), you must interact with the entire cosmetics/equipment page. In addition, than using the whole screen so we can see our units fit more clearly up close and a far, there is unused space left on the edges. Not to mention, rather than telling you what the outfit you gave the soldier will require of you, the game lets you guess until you are later in another map trying to queue them up in another level and no there is no pop up to automatically meet the equipment needs. Also there are no army presets.

Despite clearly putting effort into the art, the scale of the game forces you to work at max zoom because many management sites are twice that of the max size you can zoom to and have options you must engage with for maximum efficiency on various sides of the map. In order to collect resources or access options, rather the opening up a menu and directly collecting resources, you have to scroll around the map that is too big for your screen locate each resource site that while spread realistically, drags out the act of trying to simply trying to play the game optimally. In order to simply order max food output, you must tap 64 to 96 times at minimum. I’m not kidding. There are 32 farms throughout the farmlands map. Each farm has two options (one selected by default) and a confirm button. There’s likely more cause you have to pan around the map and sometimes you don’t have enough resources for max food output.

While the map is cool and it’s awesome to be able to select on each of people walking around, the game adds extra steps to everything that you have to do to play the game optimally. For example, you tap on the blacksmith, rather than a menu opening up of what you can order from the blacksmith, you see into his house and then have to tap on his forge. When you could have just had the order menu and the blacksmith’s house share if you wanted to show off the interior. This is the same with the wizard place, the castle, the bar, and probably other places.

Potential Minor Bugs :

I’m honestly surprised there is no ambience in the farmlands or the village, while there is ambience in the woodlands.

I was going to comment on how cool it is for your units to appear in the castle but it seems that mid animation they switch skins to a default one.

Hope you had a nice thanksgiving and a merry Christmas if you celebrate such

Thanks a lot for your feedback, kind words and wishes! First of, I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving as well and wish you all the best for the end of the year (I am from the Netherlands btw, so no Thanksgiving here. But we do celebrate Sinterklaas :)) I really appreciate the effort you made to send me your honest thoughts, much appreciated! I will reply here, not sure if you will read it, and more importantly I will note everything down on my own backlog. Unit controls: I understand your feedback. I have to admit that it is difficult to nail the unit behavior properly. I also don't want it to become very complex (it is a mobile game in the end). So I am trying to find ways to improve it, but it's hard to find the improvements to be made. For instance, the formations are challenging when units are under attack or start targeting enemies. Should they stay in formation regardless of any attackers? Or should the formation break when enemies target from different angles. It's a challenge to make the right decisions here (and implement them accordingly). Ui controls: - I love the idea of "telling you what the outfit you gave the soldier will require of you". This is indeed sth I will and should add asap. - Army presets are a good idea as well. You could use the random button now btw in order to quickly have sth else than the bald naked woman :D - Redesigning the character creation menu more extensively is sth that I have on the radar, but I have to admit its not on the highest priority. - Quick actions to harvest camps in the woodlands and for instance plant your farms I would love to add as well. These are on the backlog already:) Great suggestion! - Quick actions to create items (while not going into the current buildings -> menu's) is an interesting idea as well. I have to admit that the current setup I deliberately designed this way in order for someone to really submerge in the experience, as if you are truly walking and interacting inside the village. But yeah that maybe just doesn't work, especially not after a while playing the game. I need to find a way how to easily to do this. Maybe I should add buttons in the overworld that open up the menus straight away? Like a button to open the blacksmith menu in one go. Would that work you think? Writing this, I get a lot of ideas already! I am very grateful therefore for your feedback. Thanks a lot and would love to connect on Reddit or Discord if you like! Kind regards, The developer

Good concept but unnecessarily overwhelming micro management

The title says it. It’s cool that you can customize your units but the game makes things so much harder than it needs to to obtain resources. SO many screens, clicking so far apart with tiny icons to click (which are hard to see on phone). Every battle you need to replenish everything lost (units, equipment, etc). Even for equipping units, the same toggle that allows you to switch between equipment also switches through unit art customization (eg hair, head, etc) which makes things more confusing.

These features should be better streamlined or simplified for the user.

Thanks a lot for your kind words, appreciate it a lot! And your feedback is of great value. The micro management is an essential part of the gameplay I envisioned, but I can imagine it's overwhelming and that you for example would prefer just to do battles. If you have any suggestions on how to improve the game to your likings, that would be much appreciated. I will give it some extra thoughts as well! The developer

Game crashed on wave 5 of endless

Also i lose the ability to move dogs or spiders after deploying them across multiple waves or just in general if i place more they no longer follow movement commands
Its a big concern since i use that to get resources and i assume when i complete the rest of the campaign thats all thats left unless i want to restart only on mission 7

Absolutely Epic

Another amazing game from Sander Frenken. Herodom was one of the best games on the App Store when it came out and Battledom is just as epic! Loving the game! Keep up the great work!

This game has a great feel

It’s very satisfying to smash a clump of enemy mobs with a catapult!

A Spiritual Successor to Herodom

Just gonna put it out here now, Herodom was an incredible game, and Battledom has done a fantastic job at keeping the legacy alive. Completely new features, more customization, and a new story as well as completely new mechanics. For now, it’s still relatively early in its development phase, so there’s no real endgame beyond the main campaign, and the last level is currently an epilogue. That being said it’s still fantastic game and I’d absolutely recommend picking it up.

Awesome game but a problem

I am playing the game on IOS , IPhone 15 Pro Max , game is amazing really got hooked in the beginning with story ! Amazing Customization for your troops and the amount to do in your village is awesome ! The problems I’m having is game crashing when rendering too many troops and buying ballista , I’ve lost 1500 Gold and still isn’t researching the Siege tool so I’m gonna have to stop playing until bug is resolved but game was awesome up until that moment ! You have my Support ! Hope it gets fixed! Thanks !
