Glitches and shuts down

Running on iPhone where all other apps run fine. Maximum of about 2 minutes before freezing and shutting down. Happened now 4 times and I just downloaded today.

Useless and infuriating

As the companion to the service this app has one purpose: to help ppl find and dock bikes. It doesn’t do this. It’s effing stupid and useless.

Worthless, non-working app

This app doesn't work. Can't locate bike stations when I am standing at one.

Not helpful

This app is not helpful. The UI is confining - why show a map inside a small circle? You can't rent a bike from it, so it doesn't really provide that much utility. Lastly, I turned on notifications and a couple of hours i received a notification saying that I had 5 minutes left to return a bike. But I never rented one! I got fed up that the app doesn't let you rent and just walked home. So how am I receiving notifications saying that my bike rental is late? Horrible experience.

Tap the button on the bottom left of the app to show the full map with all stations. We are not associated with Ford GoBikes, so we have no access to your accounts or the workings of their system. This means you cannot rent a bike from the app, and if you set a time, you will have to unset it if you don't want it to go off, similar to an egg timer.

Careful. Not the app you want if you want to rent bikes in sf Bay Area. Just some dudes way to try to make $ off of you.

This is correct, we are a third-party app and never claim to be otherwise. We provide unique features that the official app does not have. Is there a reason you rated us so poorly other than the fact we are not an official app? Is there something we can do better for you?

Ford gobike app needs work

Two stars may seem harsh, but the app is more confusing than helpful at times. After returning my bike and getting the green light AND a notification from the app that I had in fact returned the bike successfully, I later received a notification saying my bike was overdue. But I think it just says that if you click the countdown timer, whether or not you returned the bike.

Because we are an independent third party, we have no access to your Ford GoBike account. Thus, the timer within the app is like an egg timer. If you set it, you will need to unset it if you dock early or else it will go off at the specified time.

Always tracks location

Why does the app need to access the location in background?

We have changed the app so that you can use less permissive location settings (though background updating would not work unless enabled)

Kills battery

The app uses location services in the background. This cannot be turned off. Used 20% of all battery power on my phone.

You can disable Background Updates in the app settings which will prevent the app from updating its data with your location changes.

Awesome streamlined interface

Bay Bikes really makes finding the few closest docks super easy… especially when using one handed on a bike.

Great little app

Very good quality app which does almost everything I want it to.

Would be awesome if it gave walking/biking directions to a bike station.

Basic functionality is OK, but tighter integration would be useful.

App does an ok job giving you an as the crow flies vector to kiosk. Not so useful in an urban environment where streets don't go through and direct paths are often misleading.

Being able to link to my account and know time remaining on current share automatically is a key missing feature. Sure, the in app timer helps... If you always remember to set it at the right moment.

Also the share program needs more kiosks in more of San Jose. Having nothing north of Hedding is absurd. Nothing south of 280 is ridiculous.
