What's New in BayTripper

2.44

December 10, 2011

This is a long-needed update that fixes lots of things as we work to bring BayTripper back under active development. Bike routing, real-time predictions, schedule-based routing on BART, and favorites should all work much better now. We're working on refactoring the real-time routing engine and hope to have that back online soon. More streamlining and improvements are coming to the client and server. Also, the feedback page is working again - we're always glad to hear about people's experiences with the app. -- Fixed the stability of the bike planner, real-time predictions, and BART schedule planner -- Favorites added for AC Transit -- Phased out support for ferry and Caltrain routing; hope to bring them back soon -- Secure backup of favorites -- Updated BART map -- Fix for feedback page -- Partial migration to a new server

Misleading Sample App Pics

Picture and description show MUNI and Ferry on schedule screen. MUNI schedule doesn't exist. Ferry data nowhere to be found in app! Such a major disappointment for an otherwise useful and informative app.

Still my go-to app for bay area public transit

Miss the real-time planning feature. Real-time arrivals are helpful though the calculated “closest stop” is a bit off for me. Extras provide transit maps and alerts as well as the BART Mobile site for the Quick Planner.

Would be good to know if anyone is continuing development of this app as it’s been over a year since the last update.

its weekend BART schedules are wrong

Lots of features, but it's wrong unacceptably often. I started using Transporter instead. Seems to be more accurate, although I miss some BT features.

Was the best, now among the worst

This app used to beat the others hands down with its dynamic, full featured route planner. But that feature has been broken for 6+ months w/ no fix in sight. The dev's blog has been equally as dead. Without the dynamic planner the app becomes worthless especially since other apps like Pocket Muni or MuniWatch have better GUI Nav to simply and meagerly display 1 route at a time - which is all this app can do now.

Its one saving grace is that it includes built in maps for a lot of the public transit agencies around the Bay Area and even timetables.

Good

Good app but not focused on the big 7 systems. It would be good if you could upload the transit schedules of golden gate transit and samtrans. So connections from muni and ac transit can be made. Also include transit alerts from 511 such as delays on the bart tracks or muni. That would require a staff person to be in touch with transit supervisors for all major agencies but on the long run that would be helpful. Finally, include in your search button all bus an alternative modes that allow the rider to choose which on to take to get to or close to the final destination. For example if i am at Market an Drumm in SF and want to get to upper Haight show the 71, 6, and N can take me there and the arrival times.
