Unfortunately this has become just a liberal establishment mouthpiece with little genuine independence from government thought police.
The first place I look at for news
The first place I look for news. Then I look at the Guardian. Then America news sights. BBC is fairly cautious and conservative with what it will report on. So it creates a search on the internet for the missing news. The BBC news does have breaking news. The BBC one does have more right wing interviewers:

The first thing I watch in the morning and my go to throughout the day.
Poor standards of journalism
The BBC has poor standards of journalism. It has had to apologise so very many times over wrong information on one subject that I no longer trust anything it says on anything of substance. Pictures of the eclipse are ok
The personalisation options gone
Unbelievable how bad the BBC has made its app over the years, removing personalisation features and short cuts
Usual accuracy and verification
There are other places, but BBC News has verified sources and are usually taking an effort to only let us have the accurate stories.
Repetitive, patronising, celeb orientated news ????
I used to respect BBC news etc but these days all I can say is it’s too repetitive and not exactly quick to update stories. I find the broadcasters quite patronising as well - how thick do they think we are. And as for celebs from both sport and the arts etc - they ought to have a separate app for them. France 24 could teach the Beeb more than a thing or two !!
