Review from a nutritionist
The app relies on crowdsourced data and doesn’t analyse full ingredient list. It confidently gives foods health scores and labels like “100% clean ingredients,” even when it doesn’t appear to have all the necessary information. Most of the time it is incorrect. If users are building the product database by scanning items for the app, these ratings should come with much more transparency. It’s a beta product presented as a finished nutrition app. On top of this they make you pay for it almost immediately! The positive comments are fake and have been bought. The app also seems to reduce nutrition to simplistic labels like “clean ingredients” or “additives detected.” Health isn’t that black and white. A food with one additive isn’t automatically unhealthy, and a food with three ingredients isn’t automatically nutritious. Context matters. Nutrient density, fibre, sodium, portion size, overall diet and an individual’s needs all play a role. Listen to the negative reviews and ignore the fake reviews - this is NOT worth PAYING GOOD money for !!!!!

Not the best
Doesn’t recognise half the stuff I scan what goods that
Response from developer
Hey Will, Sorry to hear that. We currently have over 1.1 million products in our database and it’s growing constantly, but sadly we can’t guarantee every product will be recognised yet. That said, we’ve made it really quick for users to add any missing products manually in under 45 seconds, so you can still track them easily. Appreciate the feedback, and we’ll keep improving the scanning database. Best, The Bear Team

Best product scanner I’ve found
I’ve tried a lot but this is the first one that has really stood out to me, letting me scan food for myself and my kid and giving me all the info I need. Life saver!
So so useful
One thing that annoyed me about every other scanner was there was no data for my kid, that’s where Bear really stood out for me with the little bear feature, the only thing I’d like to see is the ability to share my pantry items!
